Friday June 28, 1935.
• The Board of Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana,
• met-_ in the office of. said Board, Friday June 28, 1935,
at 9 :00 o ' clock A.M. Messrs . Joseph M. Walterman,
Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley, Jr. being present ,
the following proceedings were •had to-wit :
. The ninUtes of the n_ receeding meeting were read
and approved. •
A communication from Chas . H. Hurd in regards. to
the subletting of the contract . for the electric to J-2 -F)rc y
work to "•the7 G.H::Kraraer Electric Company of Richmond,
Indiana., and the. Complete installation of bar pereens , �/'/6'� -
•and. grinder for the. grit chamber.-The Board approved.
these contracts with the provision that all' local labor
• . . shall be employed and. as much of the same as is
Possible and that the work ,be not drug out over a ,
period of time so as one Or two individuals can
handle all of the work.
City engineer Hod.gin .reported that he nad talked
to Mr. Pierce and that he was now planning to use . • •
additonal labor at diff'erEnt • poikts on the sewer. •
• Guy DeBolt was granted permission to - place his
concrete mixing machine on City property just north
of the South G Street Bridge until January 1 .1937 ,
and the. City Attorney was instructed to draw up a
` contract at such rental as might ' be determined by
the Board and said contract shall contain::a . clause
permitting the City to cancel this agreement at
any time the City. sh-all see fit .

Superintendent of Streets Burkhardt reported the •
cost of neon,: J\To Turn signs for 8th and Main Street
would be around ?1. 50 Per letter and the Board
instructed Mr. Burkhardt to have these installed.
A communication was received from the F.E.R.A.
Recreation Project recuesting the City to furnish
i.„--water on the rarlham baseball diamonds, this request
was referred to the City Engineer and the Superintendent
of streets .
A complaint was made in' regards to the dump on
south 16th street and Mr. Burkhardt was instructed
to investigate this complaint .
Councilman William Schnieder appeared before the
• Board and stated that he had numerous complaints
from -people who lived on the West Side in regards
- to to the garbage collection and hoped that the Board
would see that this work was done in a manner that
was satisfactory.

Councilman Schnieder also asked for placing of
a tennis- court in Bealview Park. The Board agreed .
to furnish the court or prepare it if the South
Side Improvement Association would furnish the
back stops and nets .
The question of installing a traffic light at _
South 9th and E Street was also brought up to
the Board by Councilman. Schnieder and the Board
agreed that there should be alight Placed at this
corner and so ordered.

the Board for permission to cut the curb from the
corner in front of his garage at North 8th and Rim - . ' .
Street . This was referred to the City- i ngineer.°for •
• .investigation.
The. Clerk reported that the Market Master, the
City Controller and himself had attended the auction-
eering of the market stalls and that contracts 'had
been signed by. the following.

The Board approved the awarding of contracts at
the l_arket House, at the above figures .

Professor Glen West of Purdue University, who
is •engaged in making a survey of the Police Radio
System, appeared before the Board and sought the
permission of the Board to make Field Intensity
Test and stated that he c'Tuld .secure the proper
equipment to make this test from the Indianapolis
Power and Light Company and he thought that the
cost would not exceed 4125. 00, and he further stated
that these tests were necessary before any def'inate
recomendations could he made. The B )ard granted.
Permission to Mr. West to secure this eoui-ment
and make the desired tests .
Claims. to the amount of 42, 552 .70 were allowed.
The Board then adjourned.
