HomeMy Public PortalAbout06-07-1935 • • • Office of the Board of Works City of Richmond, Indiana, • • Friday June 7, 1935. • The Board of Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in :the office of said Board, Friday June 7 , 1935, at 9 :00 o ' clock A.M. Messrs . Joseph M.Walterman, • Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley, Jr. being present , the following proceedings were had, to-wit : Communication from Bartel Rohe and Rosa in regards to a fireworks display on the Fourth of July was ' ordered tabled. • A sub-contract between Max Irmscher .and. Sons and , the Industrial Piping and Engineering Company for tha plumbing and heating -on _the sewage disposal • plant, was approved with the _understanding that they be allowed to use only a foreman 'from out of - . . town on this Work and that all the rest of the men be local residents . • . • The .St . Joseph Society and the- Knights of St . John • were _granted permission to• use. the facilities of Roosevelt Field on Sunday-July 14, 1935. • . The First Christian Church was granted permission to use South Tenth Street Park starting Tuesday June 11, .and the following Wednesday and Thursday dnd the same days for the next three. weeks . • Estimates for payment for work performed on the sewer and sewage treatment plant as follows were allowed; Mcketchnie-Pierce Co . 6,821 .43, Max Irmscher & Sons, 5, 536. 51 . , • • Market Master. Carl Kutter asked permission to have the stalls at the Market House painted. The Board instructed Mr .Kutter to see the City Controller' and , if .funds were available for this work, it .would be agreeable to the Board to Perform same . Mr. Jack Yellin of the Retaila:Mercahnts Association appeared before the Board in retards 'to the traffic • light at 16th and Main Street and the Board informed ' Mr. Yellin that they were making arrangements for a traffic survey and did not feel that they should make any attempt to change this light until after said survey was completed. 0 Mr. Yellin also asked in regards to the furnishing of free electricity for the Xmas lights and was told '. • by the Board that they would take the . matter up with the Council and see if they were willing to include . ..<`g this amount in the next years budget . 131 The Planning Board reported as being unfavorable to the annexation of the plat of ground on northwest Fifth. . Street . • . Councilman Brehm and Mow appeared before the Board 'with a request that William Morrey, gr. of the Golf Course be allowed to live -in the Superintendent of Parks house so that reservations might be made. for picnics, ect . The Board informed Mr, Brehm and Mow . that it was impossible for any One to reserve the park for their individual use, but they did instruct Mr. Burkhardt to have Mr. Hirschfield and Mr. Shinn, avaiable during the . evening. . A letter from the State Police was read stating . that they would not make any recomendation as to the Police radio . The Board then decided to have- the Clerk get in touch with Proffesor Glen West of Purdue University and arrange to have him come here and give us his opinion on the radio station. Mr . Dan 'Hess of the light plant appeared before the Board and spoke on the proposed Rurallectrificatirvn - and was instructed to. secure all the facts and then the Board and the Council would make their decision. Mr. Hess was . authorized) by the Board to pay the . Mayor, City Attorney, City Engineer and City Controller. 600.00 additional salary according to the Acts of • the Indiana Legislature of 1933. Mr. Hess was. also authorized to deal with the PubliO :Service Company in regards rural electrification. • In accordance with the legal adds published in the • Item, the Board received the following bids on street oil and tarvia ; E.A.
