Friday May 3, 1935.
The Board of Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, •
met in the offices of said Board, Friday May 3, 1935,
at 9 :00 o ' clock A.T . Messrs. Joseph M. Walterman,
Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley, Jr, being present,
the following proceedings were iad, to-wit :
Minutes of the preceeding regular meeting were
read and approved.
The Mayor explained that since the Board had
notified the members of the committee in charge of
Civic Minstrel had been notified that they were not
representing the City, it would be impossible to
have this minstrel and sua•gested that we take out .
liability insurance to cover all hazards and allow
some one to represent the City in this activity.
The Board decided to have the City Attorney to
investigate the insurance company and see if the
• proposed policy and company were reliable.
A proposal from the Municipal Electric Lighting
and Power Plant as to the installing of the under-
ground wire for the Fire. Department was received
and ordered referred to the Council for their
approval .
A petition for the installing of water mains
on South M from 9th to 13th was received and referred
to the City Engineer and the Water Works Company
for investigation.
The agreement between the City of Richmond and
Jesse F. Beal regarding right of way for sewer and
permission for Mr. Beal to connect into said sewer
was signed and approved by the Board, and the
decision was made by the Board that any additional
property owners on the Abington Pike who desired to
connect to said sewer should pay a fee of -20.00
together with the cost of the connection required.
Clerk,was instructed to notify Mrs. P. W. -
Robinson, that the City had no legal right to
exempt the Day Nurserye from the payment of fees
in the matter of payments for the tearing up of
streets in connection with the repairing of North
C street .
Fire Chief Harry Williams made a report oh the
survey ordered by the Board and after some discussion
the entire matter was referred to the City Attorney
for investigation as to the Citys legal responsibility.

• Ed Brinker appeared before the Board in regards
. to the annexation of the corner lot at Northwest
5th and L Street and the Board decided to investigate
this request before making any recomendation to
Council .
Request from Councilman Schnieder for an Ornamental
Light at the corner of south 7th and E street was
referred to the Superintendent of the Light Plant ,
• also an estimate on the cost of removing the brick
sidewalk at the same location, the Board decided
that they would remove the brick for siad brick.
The Clerk was ordered to notify the City Purchasing .
Agent not to purchase any more materials or supplies
from any one who was not complying with the N.R.A.
The City AttOrney was instructed to file ant.
injunction against the County Treasurer in regards
the collection of taxes levied against the Minicipal
Electric Lighting and Power Plant .
• There being no further business to come before
