Messrs. Joseph M. Walterman, Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley, Jr. being present, the following Proceedings were had to-wit : • • Minutes of the preceeding. meeting were read and approved. • A petition f or . a Water .Main extension on North 18th from F to J Streets was received and turned over to the City Engineer for investigation. • • The suggestion was made by the Mayor that • • we build a bandstand in West 7th Street' park and have some of the band concerts given .in this park this summer, after a discussion _of . this question it was decided that if it was • desired to hold any concerts in this park, 'that the park Department could haul some of .the chairs 'from the Glen Miller Park, to the' West 7th, Street • Park and the musicians: might. perform as well with . • these as from a: bandstand. Complaint was made that the No Turn signs at • 8th and Main were hard to see and the City Engineer was instructed to. look after these . Superintendent of Streets Burkardt was instrucWeft • to place: the Stop Line at 16th and Main on the east side of South 16th Street and to place a Stop Turtle- -at the •intersection of South 16th and Main Streets. City Engineer Hodgin stated that it was the _wish of the P.W.A. Engineer that some work changes be ordered in the plans for the Sewage Treatment . Works so as to leave .at least $8,000. .more available • 'for such things as might come up in the construction of same . Mr. Hodgin had a report of the proposed changes and the approval of Mr. Irmscher for these . changes, which were as follows; DEDUCTION ( 1) Substitute 600 tons of re-rolled rail steel, American Society for Testing Materials Spec • - ification, or re-rolled intermediate grade axle steel, each to receive the approval of the City' s Consulting Engineer, for a like quanity of new billet reinforcing steel, American Society for Testing Materials. I Standard Specifications for intermediate grade reinforcing bars, SerialDesignation A-15-33, with a reduction in price of $3.00 per ton 600 Tons @ $3.00 ` 1,800.00 (2 ) Omit sand and gravel grading, and agricultural tle in sludge drying beds, including 1, 500 c.y. sand and gravel @ $2.19 . $3,288.60 Grading 300.00 • 4800 6" drain tile 010.00 480.00 $4,068.60 Total .deduction $5,868.60 It is understood and agreed, upon the acceptance of this order by Max Irmscher & Sons, Inc . , Contractor and its approval by the State Engineer for the Public Works Administration, that the amount of Five Thousand Eight Hundred Sixty Eight Dollars and Sixty Cents (5,868. 60) shall be deducted from the contract price named in said contract . Mr. Hodgin also presented a contract from the American Solvent Corporation and stated that while the Royalty price to the contractors was $6,000.00 the City could purchase these patent rights for • 4,000.00 and as a result save $2,000.00 the Board agreed that the work changes should be authorized and the signing of the agreement with the American Solvent Corporation until after the work changes had been approved by P.W.A.
