HomeMy Public PortalAbout04-05-1935 10 Office of the Board of Works City of Richmond, Indiana, Friday April 5, 1935. The Board of Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the offices of said Board, Friday April, 5, 1935 at 9 :00o ' clock A.M. Messrs . Joseph M. Walterman, Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley, Jr. being present the foll- owing proceedings were had, to-wit : A communication from Harry Wood requesting that a yellow curb be placed in front of the Gas Office and in front of the house immediately west of the said ✓ Gas Office. The Board ordered Mr. Burkhardt to paint a yellow curb in front of the Gas Company office . The Richmond Water Works Company notified the Board that they had completed the installation of the Water Main on North West 17th Street and that the length of this main was 1396 feet . The Board approved improvement resolution No .2-1935, for the installation of Ornamental Lights as recomended by the Utility Committee and approved by the Planning Commission. A group of Citizens from South i6th Street appeared before the Board and objected to the placing of a dump in this neighborhood, the Board explained to the people ! their reasons for placing this dump there and promised to visit the location and if the complaints were justified, then the Board would change the location of this dump . The Board on recommendation of Chief Vogelsong, ordered white lines for parallel parking from South C to E on Seventh Street . Fire Chief Williams stated that htere was need of some kind of a warning signal at the wo . 4 Hosehouse vand the Board gave the Chief permission to get in touch with Mr. Hess of the Light Plant and figure out some sort of a signal. The Board ordered the Controller to nay Edward I/ Elstro per month additonal salary for serving as Sanitary Inspector. ill City Engineer Hodgin reported that he recommended an Arc -Light at Sedwick and Richmond Avenue and South 14th and ICI Street and on Maple Street he suggested that the posts which were set to protect the railroad be painted white and a warning reflector be placed on these posts . The Board ordered the Controller to deposit check from the sale of the Sewage Bonds placed in a Federal Bank in Chicago as a checking account. The bad condition of theStreet car tracks was called to the attention of the Board and the Clerk was ordered to write the company in an effort to have the same repaired. Building Inspector Higg was ordered to take care / of the papering of the houses in the Glen Miller Park, which were occupied by Mr. Shinn and Mr. Hirsfield.
