The Board of Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board Friday Febuary 22, 1935, at 9:00 blclock A.M. Th'e Messrs. Joseph M. Walterman,. Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley, Jr. being present, the following proceedings were had. to-wit: - The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. . City Engineer Hodgin reported that Mr. Hess of the light plant had promised to have an estimate of the cost of installing a traffic light at the corner of North 7th and D Street, he also reported on the arc light requested. at South West 5th Vand D Street and that Mr. Hess had also, protised an estimate on this job. V V Mr. Hodgin also reported to the Board in regards to the barn in Glen Miller Park and stated that there were three old barns or sheds in the park and that they thought it advisable to tear two of these up and use the material to try and make one fairly good works shop and shed also that they suggested a location next to the green house.The Board approved of these suggestions. • A motion was made by Mr. Hodgin' and seconded by Mr. Kelley, that the heads of the different departments have full authority to employ or dismiss employees in their own department.Carried. Clerk called the attention of the Board to the fact that bills coming through the Light Plant for labor were carrying a 10% overhead charge and that the agreement between the plant and the Board, was to allow a charge for overhead on only . such material as went through the store room of said plant. The Board then ordered the Clerk to return these bills to the plant for correction. Mayor Walterman suggested that we have the signs in the one way alleys repainted so that there would be no excuse for any one driving the wrong way in these alleys . Councilman Snavely made the suggestion, ( through the Clerk) , that the curb in front of the Tivoli 90 Theatre be repainted insomuch as he had seen a car tagged for improper parking at this place and on investigation found that paint was so worn and faded on this curb that it was almost I/ impossible to tell that it was a yellow curb, the Board ordered this matter attended to. The Board recieved bids fron the Nicholson Printing Company and the J.M.Coe Printing Company as follows; Nicholson Printing 'Co. s:l75.00 J,M.Coe Printing Co. 187.50 these bids were for the printing of the bonds for the sewage treatment plant and since the printing of these was a part of the bond ord- inance the Board was able to let this contract without advertising for bids , and after due consideration, a motion was made by Mr.Hodgin and seconded by Mr.Kelley, that the bid of the Nicholson Printing Company be accepted. The Clerk was instructed to find out if there was an ordinance requiring the Board of Works to_ meet twice a week. • A bid was recieved from Gus 0berleTs Sons for the removal of the bell from number 4 fire house, es this was the only bid recieved the Board decided to hold up this contract until next meeting of the Board.
