Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Board, - • TuesdayFebuary 5, 1935 at 9 ;00 o 'clock A.M. The Messrs. Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley Jr. be'ing present, the • following proceedings were had, to-wit : Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. A communication from Lee Ridgeway containing a propo- sition to the City of Richmond for the operation of a Dog Pund as follows; To the Board of Public Works • Richmond, Indiana. Gentlemen: I wish to submit for your consideration the following, proposal for the operation of a dog shelter for the City of Richmond, Indiana; • I will build a shelter for the dogs collected • • shelterbuilding to meet with your approval or the approval of your City Engineer. Shelter shall be kept clean and sanitary and free from odor at all times. Shelter to be constructed almost entirely of • concrete for sanitary purposes. We will collect all the un-tagged dogs found on the Streets and Alleys of Richmond. Mantain and operate axsuitable -:-trubk for the coll- ection of dogs. Have a telephone. Hold all dogs at least three days, and a reason- . 111 able longer time for all valuable dogs to try and place them in a home. Issue City Dog License Tags on all dogs reclaimed or sold. Make a .charge for all reclaimed dogs for transport- ation and feeding; also a charge for a Bill of Sale on all dogs sold, tie amount of these charges to oe set by your Board; all this money to be turned into the City Treasurer. • • I • 8 5 3oard Of Works Meeting of Tuesday FekbivarTT 549.35-t=.. • When it is found necessary to kill any dogs; it shall be done by the use of Carbon Monoxide Gas. In cold weather the shelter shall be heated. • • The cost. to the_ City of Richmond for. the operation of this. Dog Shelter shall be y20U.OU per month, the contract to be for the remainder of the year 1935. after the' contract is executed; also for the years of. 1936$ 1937 and 193g. A communication 'was read. from' Paul C.Laux of Anderson, Indiana, notifying the Board of a meeting to be held in Richmond, by the Indiana Section of American Water Works • Association andtreque.ted the co—operation of the City ,of Richmond in making this meeting a. success. The Board . • instructed the Clerk to reply to this and assure "Mr • aux, of our co—operation. • • Application for work from Mr.Fred Von Pien, was reciev4d . and turned over to Mr.Burkhardt, Superintendent of.. Streets. City Engineer Hodgin reported that there was not suffic— ient time on the Change Signal on the traffic lights and the .Clerk was ordered to notify the Police Department of this complaint and ask them .to correct same. City Engineer Hodgin, stated that it *as the -wish of Mr. Chas Hurd, Consulting Engineer on the Sewage Treatment Plant; that all papers and transcripts be prepared and taken to Indianapolis;, for the inspection of Mr. McCord, a bond . . attorney of, Indianapolis, the Board concuredc3in this request. -.
