HomeMy Public PortalAbout12-31-1934 Office of Special Council Committee City of Richmond, Indiana, 63 Monday December 31st,1934. The Special Council Committee, Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Board Monday December 31st, 1934, at 9 oaclock A. M. All the members of said Board, Messrs, ®rabbi Schnieder and Williams being present, the following proceedings were had, to-wit : The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as read. His Honor Windsor B. Harris, Mayor of the City of Richmond, Indiana, appeared before the acting Board of Works, stating the General Assem- bly of Indiana, at their 1933 session, had passed an Act, fixing the • salaries of the officials of the various Indiana Cities, and in said act provided that the Mayor, City Attorney, City Controller and City Civil Engineer, of cities owning a public utility, may receive in addition to the salaries as provided under the acts from the funds of such utility, a salary in addition to the annual salary, which additional salaries shall not exceed the sum total of Six Hundred ( 600.00) Dollars per year for each of such officers. The Mayor re- ported that he had taken this matter up with different persons, and he was of the opinion, that as the money had been appropriated there- fore in the Municipal Electric Lighting & Power Plant budget for the year 1934, that he and such other officers were entitled thereto, and requested the acting Board of Public Works, to approve-; the pay- ment of said sum by the M.E.L.& P.P. out of their payroll account. Mr. Williams, then moved that the Board approve payment of the sum to each of said officers as requested by the Mayor, seconded by Mr. Crabb. Mr. Schnieder, voting Naye, on said approval with the state- ment, that in making up the budget and salary ordinance by the Com- mon Council, for the year 1934, the matter had been discussed at a round table meeting of council, and it was decided at that time, that the salaries would not be increased and no ordinance had been passed by the Common Council increasing said officers salaries to the amount requested, Messrs, Crabb and Williams voting Aye, the motion was declared carried. Claims in amount of $47,324.26, were allowed, which claims included a transfer of the sum of 43, 504.15 out of M.E.L.& P.P. General Fund to said plaits Depreciation Reserve Fund.
