HomeMy Public PortalAbout10-08-1934 40 :Office of Special Council Committee City of Richmond, Indiana, Monday October 8th, 1934: . • The Special Council Committee, Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Board Monday October 8th, 1934, at 9 o clock A. M. All the members of said Board, Messrs, Crabb, Schnieder and Williams being present , the fol- lowing' proceedings were had, to-wit : The. minutes of the preceeding meeting were read and approved. I/ A claim in amount -of 839.00, presented by Elsie Krouse, for tires to replace three tires on automobile, ruined by sinking into hole in alley between 8th & 9th Streets, between South "G" & "H" Streets, upon advice of the City Attorney, the Board agreed to allow 50% of claim as presented,, as the city had taken all reasonable precautions to protect persons from damage in repairing said alley, which would .x k not have occured 'if it had not been a severe rain, and the city could iTot be held responsible .for the acts of God. The Sup 't. , of Parks Was,. given authority to tear down the old barn at Golf Course, and investigate as to draining the lake. In matter of accident in which Charles Baker, was purported to have been injured, on June 5th, 1934, by stepping from an automooile on west side of South llth Street at Main Street, which was purported to have been caused by the Q.E.L.& P.P. tunneling under the parkway at this point, causing said grbund to cave when stepped on by said Charles Baker, thereby throwing him to the ground, this matter was • referred to the City Attorney for investigation and proper settlement between the M.E.L.& P.P. and said Charles Baker. The Building Inspector, was directed to serve notice on Mrs. Bessie Vigran, that the brick building owned by her, located at 617 main St. that said building is unsafe and dangerous to aersons occupying the same and to persons who may be in and about said building, by reason that the east wall of building & other parts thereof are weakened so that said ouilding is liable to fall and injure persons in about the same, 'and that said building, on account of said weakened condition should be removed or repaired so that the same will be in a safe con- ditioj. And to direct said Bessie Vigran, to either remove said build- ing or repair the same, witlhn thirty days from this date, so that the same shall be safe to persons who may be in or about the same . And that unless said order is complied within thirty days, the said Bessie Vigran, will, under the provisions of the Building Code of the City be subjected to a fine of not less than $10.00 nor more than 100.00, and each and every day of such violation will constitute a separate offense. • Claims in amount of $30, 233.02, ,were allowed_.
