as follows :
Since the time this company Iodated in Richmond., the
disposal of sewage and waste water has been a problem. We have •
spent a large amount of money in erecting a large septic tank and
have also installed syphon tanks for the collection of all other
waste water that would not ordinarily flow thru the septic tank.
the outflow from these tanks is to an open ditch flowing southwest.
-We . do not know of anything further that can be done to purify the
waste water and it has been suggested that the sewage and waste
water be disposed of by placing a sewage pump in one of the tanks
on our property and laying a 3" pipe from that point to the 15" ZRn
sanitary sewer between 8th & 9th Streets. We have discussed this
matter with your City Engineer, Mr. Hodgin, and it seems to us this
would answer once and for all the problem that has confronted resi- .
dents in this section of the city. We feel that the cost of sewage
• disposal after it leaves our property is an item of expense that
should be absnrbed by the City, and are asking your committee to
make an investigation. The Board voiced the opinion that the City
was not responsible in the matter, and directed the Engineer to
so inform said Gear Works. •

The Clerk reported, that the Common Council at a special meeting
held last evening, had by a 2/3 vote of council, instructed the
Board to employ Mr. Hurd, Consulting Engineer, on the proposed in-
tercepting sewers & sewage disposal plant . Mr. Hurd, having been
advised to oe present at this meeting the Board authorize The City
Attorney, and Mr. Hurd, to prepare proper contract for said engineering
services at once in order to get started on the work, and for Mr.
Hurd to consider himself employed as such engineer.
Claims in amount of 02796. 84 were allowed.
The Board then adjourned,
