The Special Council Committee, Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Board Monday July 9th, 1934, . at, 9 o 'clock A.M. All the members of said Board Messrs, Crabb, Schnieder and Williams being present, the following proceedings • were had, to-wit : I/ The minutes of the preceeding meeting were read and approved. A report of the test made of the B.T.U. furnished by the Indiana Gas Utilities Company, of Richmond, Indiana, by W. F. Lebo, Engineer of the Public Service Commission of Indiana, was received stating the test made at the City Building on June 25th, 1934, showed 560 and 564 BTU with an average of 562 B. T.U. stating the_gas furnished in Richmond should have an average of 570, report ordered filed. The City Civil Engineer S.W.Hodgin, was authorized and directed to employ Mr. Boyd Moorman, as carpenter foreman, in erecting the stage at the cities amphitheatre in Glen Miller Park. In matter of petition for water main in Northwest 17th Street, from Main Street to Peacock Road, was reported on by Mr. Dill, Sup 't. , of Richmond Water Works Corporation, who stated there was practically no revenue to be derived from this installation by the company, it was on motion decided by the Board not to order the said extension at this time. A communication was received from Councilman Frank Wilkins, request- ing the Board to install lighting units for the Northwest"H" Street playground, used by the colored people stating the colored people of that neighborhood will be satisfied with a very small lighting lay out consisting of only four lighting units, and Mr. Crandall has made an estimate that it will cost between 812.00 and $15.00 to make this installation providing that the residents dig post holes. The people of will pay for the light bill, amounting approximately $2.00 to $3.00 per month. The Board order said lighting units in- stalled by the Light Plant , and as the , city has no available appropri- ation to pay for the same , it was unanimously decided that the cost . of said materials and installation be borne by the light plant.
