The Special Council Committee, Board .of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Board Friday June 29th, 1934, at 9 o 'clock ,A.M.All the members of said Board Messrs, Crabb, Schnieder and Williams being present, the following pro- ceedings were had, to-wit : _ . 1/ _ The minutes of the preceeding meeting were read and approved. The City Engineer, .reported the bad condition of septic tanks on property south side of Main Street east of South 23rd Street, Engineer and Street Commissioner were authorized to investigate and make proper repairs to relieve present conditions. . The Board awarded contract to E. H. Gilcrest,.Inc.., for. one Dodge Chassis . 136" wheel base l- ton Model K-32 Truck with _Anthony 12 yard hEaayxdatyx hoistxwith gravity dump body at pride bid thereon i. e. net-4775.00. Fire Chief Harry Williams, submitted estimate of cost of making certain changes, in City Building in order to save penalties attached on fire in- surance on the building, stating to erect standpipe & hose, would save the city at the rate of $48.30 in three years, but the cost of making said changes would oe $548.00 first year and $48.00 water bill as a stand by service, to install 13 fire extinguishers the cost would be p197. 60 while the sayings would result only to amount of 448.30 for 3 years. Penalty charge for non-standard protection to floor from stove has been attended to for over a year but the city has never received this credit. Penalty for Bowser pump not labeled, has been labelled for over a year but as yet the city has received no credit .. Fire Alarm building. There is no insurance carried on this building and contents the value of which is around $15000.00 The building is fire-proof but the contents are alw ay: in danger from lightning. I have made no mention of the outlying hose houses as Mr. Hess says these policies do not expire for two years yet. However I also complied with certain requests on these buildings over a year ago and we should now be receiving these credits. The report was ordered referred to Mr. Hess, Sup 't. , of Light Plant for action necessary. Pursuant to advertisement, the Board received bids for coal as follows : 150 tons more or less of a high grade stoker coal, for city building; 100 tons more or less, Pocahontas mine Run or N. & S. Coal, for fire stations ; 50 tons or more, f. o.b. cars Pocahontas Mine Run or Nut coal for Parks, 15 tons more or less Pocahontas Lump Coal for Detention hos- pital, as follows to-wit : . ' " J. H. All bids taken under advisement for tabulation and. investigation. The petition for extension of water main in Northwest 17th Street, from West Main St. to Peacock Road, was again presented by the petitioners and referred to Richmond Water Works Corporation, for report.
