HomeMy Public PortalAbout2014.086 (05-20-14)RESOLUTION NO. 2014.086 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT EXTENSION WITH RRM DESIGN GROUP TO PROVIDE PROFESSIONAL PLANNING SERVICES FOR THE COMPLETION OF THE CIVIC CENTER COMPREHENSIVE PLAN AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE THE CONTRACT FOR A MONTH -TO -MONTH TERM NOT TO EXCEED THREE MONTHS WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood received a 2012 -2013 Environmental Justice Grant from the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) for the preparation of a Civic Center Comprehensive Plan; and WHEREAS, the Civic Center Comprehensive Plan aims to link the City's Public Transit Station to major transit points within the City, in order to encourage sustainability, public modes of travel and improve economic viability in the area; and WHEREAS, on June 18, 2013, the City of Lynwood contracted with RRM Design Group for professional planning services in the preparation and completion of the Civic Center Comprehensive Plan, with said contract expiring on June 18, 2014; and WHEREAS, a contract extension is required for the completion of the Civic Center Comprehensive Plan, specifically for the City's analysis of the plan as required by the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA); and WHEREAS, the grant is fully reimbursable and the contract extension will not result in additional fiscal impacts to the City; and WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to approve the contract on a month -to- month basis, not to exceed three months. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That the City Council authorizes the Mayor to execute a contract between the City of Lynwood and RRM Design Group to perform professional planning services for the completion of the Civic Center Comprehensive Plan on a month -to- month basis not to exceed three months, approved as to form by the City Attorney. Staff' recommends that the City Council extend the contract as per Exceptions in Section 6- 3.13 of the Lynwood Municipal Code (LMC). Section 2. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute the contract in a form to be approved by the City Attorney. Section 3. That this Resolution is to be given effect immediately upon adoption.
