BONNEVILLE COUNTY, IDAHO - CITY OF IONA, IDAHO
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING AN AREA OF CITY IMPACT IN THE UNINCORPORATED
PORTION OF BONNEVILLE COUNTY SURROUNDING THE CITY OF IONA; ADOPTING AN
OFFICIAL MAP OF THAT AREA OF CITY IMPACT; IDENTIFYING THE COMPREHENSIVE
PLAN THAT APPLIES IN THE AREA OF CITY IMPACT; IDENTIFYING THE ZONING AND
SUBDIVISION ORDINANCES THAT APPLY IN THE AREA OF CITY IMPACT; PROVIDING
FOR RECIPROCAL NOTIFICATION OF DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITY AND CHANGES IN PLANS
AND ORDINANCES; AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
Findings
WHEREAS, the Local Planning Act of 1975 (I.C. 67-6526) requires that cities and

counties negotiate an area of city impact;
WHEREAS, the urban fringe of the City of Iona is experiencing development
pressure;
WHEREAS, the City of Iona wishes to maintain its separate community identity as
land development occurs in its area;
WHEREAS, an orderly transition from rural to urban uses will promote the
health, safety, and general welfare of the people of Iona and Bonneville
County;
WHEREAS, the planning commissions and governing boards of Bonneville County and
Iona have considered the statutorily required factors of 1. trade area,
2. geographic factors, and 3. areas that can reasonably be expected to be
annexed to the city in the future in establishing an area of city impact for
Iona, and
WHEREAS, the planning commissions and governing boards of Bonneville County and
Iona have, after giving proper notice, conducted public hearings on this area
of city impact ordinance;
IT IS HEREBY ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BOARD OF THE CITY OF IONA:
1. IONA AREA OF CITY IMPACT BOUNDARIES. An area of city impact for the City of
Iona is established within the boundaries illustrated on the attached map.
which is hereby made a part of this ordinance.
2. COMPREHENSIVE PLAN FOR IONA AREA OF CITY IMPACT.
A. The Bonneville County Comprehensive Plan, including future amendments,
shall apply within the area of city impact established by this ordinance.

B. In order to maintain the community identity of the City of Iona, the
Bonneville County Comprehensive Plan shall provide that subdivision and
land development within the area of city impact proposed by the ordinance.
3. ZONING ORDINANCE FOR IONA AREA OF CITY IMPACT. The Bonneville County zoning
ordinance, including future amendments, shall apply within the area of city
impact established by this ordinance.
4. SUBDIVISION ORDINANCE FOR IONA AREA OF CITY IMPACT. The City of Iona's
subdivision ordinance, including future amendments, shall apply within the area
of city impact established by this ordinance.
5. NOTICE OF DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITY AND RECIPROCAL NOTICE OF CHANGES IN PLANS AND
ORDINANCES.
A. Bonneville County shall provide the City of Iona with written notice
of all proposed zoning changes, subdivisions, and other significant land
development activity proposed within the area of city impact established
by this ordinance.
B. The City of Iona shallprovide one copy of all changes in its
comprehensive plan, zoning ordinance, and subdivision ordinance to
Bonneville County and the county shall zeciprocate in kind.
6. EFFECTIVE DATE. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage by the governing board and publication as required by law.
