ABSENT: Jay Burke, Gordon Matthews, Jenny Orr, Jim Kluttz, Terry Spatz, Carrie Efird, Virginia Ward, Hank Weisman, Jenna Wilkinson. GUEST: Richard Adams CALL TO ORDER: Sarah Jones called the meeting to order at 4:02 pm MINUTES: There was no July meeting. Minutes of June 16 were approved. FINANCE: Staff/Consultant change: Amy Kagan will replace Maria Lancaster on staff. Debit Card: Jim Kluttz has the only copy. New phone: Maria Lancaster reported that the Theater has a Verizon iPhone, which costs about $10 more per month, but has a swiper for QuickBooks. We have used it, works great. MEMBERSHIP & MARKETING: Maria Lancaster reported that we sent 22 membership renewal letters, have received 12 back. Question over whether an earlier letter was sent. We’ve tested posters, rack cards, articles in Connect and Do, trying to determine what works best. Sunday’s Stillwell concerts have 38 at 4:30, nearly 50 coming to 7pm event. She reported on the recent concert at All Saints. Expenses $210, netted $117 after donations. Need to evaluate the venue for the style of music. BUILDING: SCAD initiative: Dick Smith reported that several FoTT Board members met with SCAD officials at the Theater and at SCAD. A draft proposal was sent to Board members today. Sarah Jones reported that a theater planner can do a charrette for $10,000. Another consultant from Atlanta would propose a similar plan, and could come to Tybee for the cost of mileage and hotel. Keith Gay moved to ask the consultant from Atlanta to come; Paul Gilker second, unanimous. John Herdina reported that we will begin working next week on floor, louvers, north doors hardware, thresholds, weather stripping, window hardware, push pulls, signage, close boiler room. FUNDRAISING: Fox Theater Foundation: Sarah Jones reported that Jim Kluttz is opening a dialog with Molly in Atlanta about fundraising. We got around $10,000 from the Tour of Homes and a $10,000 gift from the City. Page 2 of 2 Dale Critz Foundation: Maria Lancaster reported that she will meet with Dale Critz August 24 on how we can participate in the Critz run in 2012. She will also ask about Critz Foundation requirements for grant funding. GA Department of Economic Development grants: Sarah Jones reported that Cullen Chambers will be submitting a grant for bathrooms on September 1. Maria Lancaster reported that a grant has been written for a 125th anniversary festival involving all Tybee’s non-profits. Polar Bear plunge: Sarah Jones reported that we have been approached to co-sponsor the Plunge; possible income of $9,000. Our expenses would include approximately $300 for insurance and some involvement in t-shirt sales. There is also a New Year’s Eve flip-flop dash. Paul Gilker moved to partner with the 40th & 8th on the Polar Bear Plunge, Keith Gay second, unanimous. Meeting adjourned at 4:39 pm. Next meeting: Thursday, September 15, 4pm.
