Staff Summary: An Honor Guard Program was previously established within the City's Police Department. It is in the best interest of the City to re-establish the Honor Guard Program to represent the City as a ceremonial unit during events and in honor of Flag Day. Financial Impact - The Department already possesses most of the materials required for an Honor Guard. However, due to continuing substantial vacancies in the Department, an Honor Guard will normally require overtime with an estimated cost of $1,500 cost, including benefits, each time utilized. The annual financial impact will be a function of the number of times per year an Honor Guard is used. Additionally, any extra minor items and possible trainer fees won't exceed $2,500. Proposed Action: It is recommended the City Commission approve the legislation directing the Interim City Manager to establish an Honor Guard for the City of Opa-locka. Attachment:
