The Special Council Committee, Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Board Friday April 13th, 1934, at 9 oaclock A.M. All the members of said Board, . Messrs, Crabb, Schnieder and Williams being present, the fol- lowing proceedings were had, to-wit : The minutes of the preceeding meeting were read and approved. The Board grant permission to the Electrical Contractors, to use the 11 Council Chamber Tuesday April 17th, 1934, for meeting to be held by lsaid contractors on said date. A communication was received from Samuel L. Trabue, Commissioner of the Indiana State Public Service Commission, in matter of request of the City to have the quality. of gas as to the B. T.U. furnished the citizens by the Indiana Gas Utility Company, a.s requested by the ' Board. Stating it is unpracticable to have the commission engineers take equipment from Indianapolis to make local tests, and where local equipment is available the use of such is more satisfactory. request- ing the Board to ascertain whether or not the City could not locate such equipment in the City and permitting its use by their engineers. az After calling Ea.rlham College, and High School, it was ascertained . through them that there is no such equipment in the city other than that used by the Gas Company. The Board was informed, however, that since some publicity had been given as to the cities intention to have a test made of the gas content, the quality has been very much improved and was more satisfactory to the patrons of the plant. The Clerk was directed to notify the Commissioner of existing conditions land to ascertain the next step to be taken by the city in the matter of making such tests. The Board approved the specifications, submitted by the City Civil ' Engineer, in matter of Bituminous materials and aggregates to be used on the city streets the coming season, and the clerk was direct- ed to advertise for bids on furnishing materials as specified. !
