City of Richmond, Indiana, Friday April 6th, 1934. ------_---- • The Special Council Committee, Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Board Friday April 6th, 1931-, at 9 oeclock A.M.All the members of said Board Messrs, Crabb, Schnieder and Williams being present, the following proceedings were had, to-wit : The minutes of the preceeding meeting were read and approved. Mrs Crabb, reported complaint- as to the quality of gas being- furnish ed the citizens of Richmond, by the Indiana Gas Utility- Co. , as to the B.T.U. the Clerk was directed to request the Public Service Con- miaaion of Indiana, to send representative of the commission to this Qity, and make a test of said gas. The Board ordered the water main extended in Northwest 5th Street, from Northwest"J"to "I," Street, the matter of additional fire hydrant's to be taken up with Fire. Chief,Williams as to number on. the new ex- tension. . The Board ordered the contract of Earl J. Moore, as to refreshment privileges in Glen Miller Park cancelled, for none payment of con- cession privileges as contracted for, and the Clerk was directed to advertise for bids for, the privilege of selling refreshments etc. , in Glen Miller Park, excluding the Golf Course. A recommendation that a permanent atage be constructed in the Civic amphitheatre in Glen Miller Park was presented, by Miss M. Schalk chairman of the music department of the Woman es club. The Board authorized S.W.Hodgin,. City Engineer, to acknowledge receipt of the communication and to investigate the possibilities of building such permanent stage of suitable type, and refer the same to the City Plan Commission, before returning same to the Board. • The report of Council Committee on Public Property, received at last council meeting and referred to the Board and legal department by II council was read, as follows to-wit : To the Special Committee, acting Board of Works, City of Richmond, Indiana: Gentlemen: The Public Buildings committee, of the common councill'of the City of Richmond consisting of Messrs, Frank Wilkins, Jesse Evan and WM. Schnieder, having carried out its duties in conformity with a request of the common council of said City of Richmond, herewith submit a recommendation the result of a conference with various. citil zens who are interested in the city assisting in securing a Public Auditorium under finances proposed to be secured- from the Reconstruct- ion Finance Corporation: • We, as a specially designated committee, do recommend after due consideration; that the Special Committee of Cour - ° oil, serving a a board of works join with us in recommending that; • The Common Council, of the City of Richmond, endorse the, auditorium project-agree to extend available land owned by said city for the construction of a Public Auditorium whenever such necessary funds are granted by the Reconstruction Finance Borporation and fur- ther, to authorize the petitioners for such au auditorium, consist- ing of the several voluntary committeemen; to proceed with their part in the matter by filing for funds to be furnished by Reconstruction Finance Corporation. (See next page. ) 284 Office of Special Council Committee City of Richmond, Indiana, Monday April9th,-1934. -----__-- The Special Council Committee, Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Board Monday April 9th,1931+,at 9 o 'clock A.M. All the members of said Board Messrs, Orabb, Schnieder and Williams being present, the following proceedings were had, to-wit : The minutes of the preceeding meeting were read and approved. The Board directed the Richmond Water Works Corporation, to extend the water main in Northwest 5th Street, from Northwest "J" to North- west"L"Street; also, in Northwest "L" .;.Street from 5th Street east to make a circulating line; also, to install two fire hydrants, at the points to be named by the fire chief. Standard Oil Co. , was granted permission to cut and set back the curb at Southwest corner of Southwest 1st and West Main Street, under the supervision of the City Civil Engineer. On motion of Mr. Schnieder, the Sup 't. , of Parks was notified, that no flowers be given to persons for planting, from stock at Glen Mil- ler Park, other than those furnished for the fire department and flower boxes at public buildings.
