HomeMy Public PortalAbout11-10-1933 240 Office of Special Council Committee City of Richmond, Indiana, .Friday November l0th,1933 __---The Special Council Committee, Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Boar, Friday November 10th, 1933,. at 9 000lock A. M. All the members of said Board, Messrs, Orabb, Schnieder and Williams being present , the following proceedings were had, to-wit : The minutes of the preceeding meeting were read and approved, The Board: met to hear remonstrances if- any, of persons interested or whose property is affected under Declaratory Resolution No. 248-1933, providing for the vacation of Northwest "E"• Street (formerly Chestnu .Street) from Northwest 5th Street, west .to the alley 1st west -of sail 5th Street. The Board modify .said resolution by inserting therein that "the City of Richmond, Indiana, reserves a strip 10 feet in widph in said proposed vacated street, known as a public utility right of way,. for laying of water, gas, sewer and conduit pipes in said street. No one remonstrating, the Board unanimously confirm all former action . taken in matter, and now confirm said resolution as modified, and not order a list or roll prepared of all property holders interested and of valuable interests therein, sought to be taken, which list or roll shall also describe the property beneficially or injuriously affecte . The Board unanimously adopt Improvement Resolution No. 922-1933. for the improvement of South 17th Street , by erecting and installing light posts and light post system, from South "A" to "B" Street, said work to be done by the Municipal Electric Lighting and Power Plant, and the cost of light posts to be assessed against the abutin property on front foot basis. . His Honor, Windsor B. Harris Mayor of said City, appeared before the Board in matter of appropriation ordinance passed by the common count oil at their last meeting, for the sum of 4900.00, to the street department payroll, The Mayor stated that he was not in favor of em- ploying any more men as is now, unless an emergency should arise for such employment, the Mayor was assured by the Special Council Com- mittee, that his wishes in the matter would prevail, and if any ad- ditional men were employed, those having been released would be given first preferance, the Mayor stated with that understanding he would approve and sign the ordinance as passed. A communication was received from the Public Service Company of Indi; ana, notifying the Board that said company has removed the hazardous poles on Southwest "A" Street, from 5th Street west. Claims in amount of $9, 572. 66 were allowed. Street Commissioner, was authorized to patch North"J"Street east of 12th Street. The Board then adjourned, Prest. of Board Attests R Clerk -of Board
