HomeMy Public PortalAbout10-27-1933 23G Office of Special Council Committee- City of Richmond, Indiana, - Friday October 27th, 1933 - --The Special Council Committee, Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Board Friday October 27th, 1933,at 9 oeclock A.M. Messrs, Schnieder and Wil- liams present; Mr. Crabb absent : two members of- said Board being pres- ent, the following proceedings were had, to-wit : The minutes of the preceeding meeting were read and approved. Mr. Schnieder, reported that he had placed order for coal for city building, wits the Muff Grain and Coal Co. , with an advance of 200 per ton, over the contract price. Richmond Brewing Company, were granted permission to tap the sewer in Northwest 5th Street at site of the new brewery building, upon paymen to the city the sum of $25.00, for said tap, and signing the proper agreements in city engineering department, as to construction of ad- ditional sewers in said territory, and making deposit for repairing street by the city after the same is dug into. Upon recommendation of the City Engineer, the Board awarded contract to the Stanley Plumbing & Electric Company, for furnishing all mater- ial and labor and installing hot water heating plant and system in th'- No. - 3 fire station, they to furnish American Radiator Companyes, 3- W-8 Red Flash jacketed boiler of ample d pacity to heat the space intended under the cityes plates and specifications, at price- 1383.00: A communication was received from Indiana Railroad, stating that the pole line in Southwest 11A" Street west of 5th Street, belongs to the Public Service Company of Indiana, and not to Indiana Railroad. • A communication was received from T.L.Doyle, Division Engineer of the , Pennsylvania Railroad, at Columbus, Ohio. , stating that an old city ordinance compelled the railroad company, to- maintain street lights at railroad crossings, which cost the railroad about $35.00 per month also, that the company pays the Light Plant approximately $550.00 per month, and that these lights furnish no protection for the railroad crossings, but are so spaced as to form a part of the cities regular street lighting system, and would no doubt, be located in these lo- cations if no railroad crossing existed, and requested that in view Hof the fact that they are at a great expense monthly maintaining cros- sing protection in the way of Crossing Watchmen and gates, that the company be relieved from paying for these lights, as this matter is governed by city ordinanceA the Board referred the communication to the Common Council for their consideration.
