Office of Special Council Committee
City of Richmond, Indiana,
Monday October 9th, 1933.
The Special Council Committee., Boardvof Public Works of the City of
Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Board
Monday October 9th, 1933, at 9 o °clock A.M. All the members of said
Board, Messrs, Crabb, Schnieder and Williams being present, the fol-
lowing proceedings were had, to-wit :
The minutes of the preceeding meeting were read and approved.
Complaint of Wm. Emslie, that the poles of the Traction Company sup-
porting transmission lines in Southwest "A" Street, running from South-
west 5th Streetwest; are in a dangerous condition and a menace to
public safety was received, and the clerk directed to notify the
Indiana Power Company owners of the old T.H.& E. Traction Company to
have said poles and lines placed in a safe condition.
A petition was received signed by Frank Corcoran, to have Chestnut
Street, (now Northwest "E" Street) vacated, from the alley east of
Northwest 6th Street to Northwest 5th Street , which was referred to
the City Plan Commission for investigation and report,
was received
C A communication/from John- F. Holaday, addressed to the Mayor W. B.
Harris, in matterl�of operation of the Municipal Golf Course, for the
lyear 1934, stating\that the men who during this year undertook to keep
the Course in operation, are willing, if they can be of service in the
matter, to help direct its operation during 1934. The Clerk was direct-
ed to write Mr. Holaday, that the Board were agreeable for said com-
mittee of men to sign agreement au renew the same agreement prevail-
ing for this year, for operation of said course in 1934.
The Board held a conference with Street Commissioner, to see if there
was not some way the City could keep his employes on the payroll, in
an effort to re-employe the men laid off Last Friday, after some dis-
cussion in the matter, 'Mr. Schneider was instructed to take the matter
up with the City Controller as to available moneys which may be appro-
priated for payroll of his department.
Claims in amount of $2967.15 were allowed.
