HomeMy Public PortalAbout07-03-1933 207 Office of Special Council Committee City of Richmond, Indiana, , Monday July 3rd,_1933. __-- The Special Council Committee, Board of Puolic Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Boar Monday July 3rd, 1933, at 9 o 'clock A.M. All the members of. said Boar Messrs, Crabb, Schnieder and Williams being present, the following proceedings were had, to-wit : The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved abLread. The Committee appointed to investigate the matter of the City con- structing I,nterc.epting Sewers and Sewage Treatment Works-, composed of the Mayor, City Attorney, City Civil Engineer, and Board of Works met in conference on various. phases connected therewith The .City Attorney, stated that, as he understood the matter, it was proposed that the work to be .done and the financing of the same was to be had under the Federal Government Puolic Works program, he stated in part that the machinery of the Federal Government for carrying on or assisting in the financing any part of such works had not as yeti been set up in the State of Indiana, and that the proposed assistance of the Federal Government under their acts were obscure. He stated that under the : 1. 50 tax levy law ,of the State of Indiana, it would be a problem to pay the interest or principal on bonds issued by any municipal corporation- after date of August £nth, 1932, and he doubted whether., any bonds the City might issue could be sold, by reason of said 1. 50 tax limit. And that it was the opinion of the Mayor as well as himself, that the committee was not in a position to make a report in the matter at this time. . It was decided by the Committee, that the City Attorney, act as spokesman for the entire committee, and report to the common council at their meeting to oe held this evening, that the committee were not ready or in a position to make proper report on this project . The Clerk was directed to prepare a. resolution of thanks to all persons taking part in the Civic. Minstrel held in Glen Miller Park June 27, 28, L9 & 30, and present the same to the common council for their approval of the same. - . The Board approved various payrolls to July, 1, 1933.
