AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR, BY PROCLAMATION, TO
LIMIT OR SPECIFY THE TIMES OF USE OF CITY WATER;
REQUIRING PUBLICATION OF THE PROCLAMATION; AND
PROVIDING WHEN THE ORDINANCE SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF IONA, IDAHO:
Section 1: MAYOR MAY LIMIT THE USE OF WATER. In times
of, or in anticipation of, scarcity or when the plant is
unable to furnish a sufficient supply of City water for all
purposes, the Mayor may, by proclamation, limit or specify
the times of use of city water to such extent as may be
necessary for the public good. Such proclamation shall be
published in two (2) consecutive issues of the official
newspaper, and after such publication, the proclamation
shall have the same force and effect as a city ordinance.
Section 2: PENALTY CLAUSE: Any person, firm or
corporation, which shall violate any provisions of this
ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon con-
viction thereof shall be fined in any sum not in excess of
THREE HUNDRED AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($300.00), and/or by imprison-
ment for not more than thirty (30) days.
Section 3: All ordinances or parts of ordinances
inconsistent with this Ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 4: This ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage, approval and due publica-
tion.

PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, it has been a policy of long standing to
maintain adequate pressure throughout the City's water
system, and due to an increase in demands for sprinkling
gardens and lawns in the spring and summer, it is necessary,
henceforth, to proclaim certain regulations in force;
NOW, THEREFORE, in accordance with the provisions of
Ordinance No. 35, of the City of Iona, Idaho, IT IS HEREBY
PROCLAIMED that the following regulations be in force
beginning Monday, June 1, 1981, and continue in force until
September 1, 1981.
All properties with assigned street numbers ending in
2, 4, 6, 8 and 0, will be sprinkled on even numbered
calendar days.
All properties with assigned street numbers ending in
1, 3, 5, 7 and 9, will be sprinkled on odd numbered calendar
days; provided, however, that no sprinkling shall be done on
the 31st of any month.
All properties with street numbers ending in one-half
or other fractional numbers, shall be sprinkled on the days
assigned to that number without reference to the fractional
portion.
Except as specified in No. 2 of the exceptions, all
schools, public parks and other public lands may be irriga-
ted or sprinkled between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 7:30
a.m. each day.
No watering of any property shall occur after 10:00
p.m. or before 6:00 a.m. of any day, except for the
irrigation of lawn by automatic sprinklers and further
excepting all schools, public parks and other public
lands.
Watering of any pasture with city water is hereby
prohibited.
Sprinkling and/or irrigating an area, with city water,
greater than 10,000 square feet is hereby prohibited.
It shall be unlawful to irrigate with an open hose at
any time.
Sprinkling through a nozza. attached to a hose shall be
lawful at any time, provided the nozzOor other sprinkler
dlEvice is held in the hand.

ORDINANCE NAMING "MAIN STREET"AND DESIG*
HATING DAYS FOR THE USE OF WATER FROM THE
VILLAGE WATER SYSTEM FOR HOSE AND SPRINKLING
PURPOSES:
WHEREAS, The Board of Trustees of the Village
of Iona have found it necessary for the equal
distribution and conservation of water from.
the Village Water System for sprinkling and
hose purposes, to regulate the use thereof,
and to designate a street within said Village
as a dividing line,
NOW THEREFORE', BE IT ORDAINED BY THE VILLAGE
BOARD OF TRUSTEES:
Sec. 21-1 That the street running North and
South through the center of said Village of
Iona immediately West of the L. D. S. Church
shall hereafter be designated as "Main Street".
Sec • 21-2 That from May is t to September 1st
of each year, all residents living East of
Main Street in the Village of Iona shall be
permitted to use water for hose and sprinkling
purposes on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and
on Sundays until 2:00 o'clock P.M. Those
living West of Main Street in said Village of
Iona shall be permitted to use water for hose
and sprinkling purposes on Tuesdays, Thursdays,
Saturdays and after 2:00 P• M. on Sundays.
Section 21-3 People living south of the road
from. which Main Street takes off, being serviced
from Village water, ahall use water for hose
and sprinkling purposes on days designated above
the same as _ if said Main Street were to run
straight South as far as the Village limits.
Sec. 21-4 Any person wilfully violating this
ordinance shall be deemed to have committed
a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be
subject to a fine of not to exceed $25.00,
and in default of payment of such fine may
be confined in the County jail for a time
not to exceed 10 days.
Passed by the Board of Trustees on the
day of May, 1955 and signed by its chairman—`
and attested to by its clerk.
