The Special Council Committee, Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Boar on Monday December 5th, .1932, at 9 o 'clock A. M. All the members of said Board, •Messrs, Crabb, Schnieder and Williams., being present. The following proceedings were had; to-wit : The minutes of the preceeding meeting were read and approved. • The Sup 't. , of Light Plant, was instructed to light the living Christ • - mas Tree in Court House grounds during the christmas • season. _ Representatives of the Retail Merchants Association, appeared before the Board, requesting that the .city pay the. cost of wiring approx. 200 christmas trees, that will be installed in the Main Street Busi- ness district . The trees have been purchased by the- merchants who • would also pay the cost of illuminating the trees, so the board were informed, after some discussion the . Board on motion takes the mat- ter under advisement until next Fridays meeting of the Board. • Whereas, W.L.Magaw, contractor under Improvement Resolution No.918- 1931,• for the .improvement of South 16th Street, from South"E" to"H" • Street, had filed a maintenance bond for the period of three years. One year of the same having expired, the Board authorize Mr. Magaw to have said bond cancelled.. The Street Commissioner was instructed to assist in distributing Christmas baskets, if assistance of he or' any of his men are needed. The Board met to hear remonstrances if any, of persons whosve proper- ty is primarily assessed under Declaratory Resolution No.247-1932, -for the vacation of 72 feet off of the north side of South "B" Street from South 2nd Street west, .to east line of right_ of way of the C. & 0. Ry. of Indiana: No one appearing or remonstrating, the Board ap • - proved a final assessment roll of benefits and. damages heretofore . approved and now direct the same be .forthwithtransmitted to the Department of Finance. Claims in the amount of $129, 618.40 were a1lowed. • Upon the recommendation of Sup 't . , Hess, the Board awarded the con- tract for House Switchboard, to the Richmond Electric Co. , at price submitted in;, ielr bid therefore November .14th, 1932.. • The Board then adjourned, Prest. of Board Attest : • • .
