Monday June 20th, 1932.
The Special Council Committee, Board of Public Works of the City of
• Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Boar
. Monday June 20th, 1932, at 9 o 'clock A.M. All the' members of said
Board, Messrs, Crabb, Schnieder and Williams being present . The fol-
lowing proceedings were had, to-wit : .
The minutes of the preceeding meeting Were read and approved.
The City Civil Engineer and Street Commissioner, were directed to
make the repairs necessary to the swinging bridge in happy hollow.
On motion of Mr.- Williams, Jenkins Bros, Insurance Agency, were in-
structed to renew policy for Workmen's Compensation, for Municipal
• Electric Lighting & Power Plant employes, for the year beginning
July 1st, 1932. •
A copy of order of the Public Service Commission of Indiana, in mat-
ter of Motor Distributing Corporation, of Richmond, Indiana,. certifi-
cate of Public Convenience & necessity to operate motor vehicle as
E,9 common carriers of property only between Richmond and Dunreith, Ind.
which was placed on file.
City Civil Engineer, reported that it was his opinion that the dam d;
Morton Lake, was not responsible for any nuisance as reported by the
Health Officer, he stated that the flood gates at the dam is 4ft.wid
& 6 ft . high, and were open,, and that a free flow of the river water
was permitted, as shown by the fact that the depth of the water at :
the spillway of the darn was only 10 inches. He reported that a repre
sentative from the state conservation department would be in the cit
one day this week, to inspect Glen Miller Park Lake, for the purpose
of recommending someway of eliminating conditions caused by the lake
filling with silt, and he would make an effort to have him visit the
Morton Lake. •
Sam Jaffe appeared before the Board, in matter of the City terminati g
his contract given on the 8th day of April, 1932, for materials to b-
furnished the Light Plant , he stated he was delayed in making deliv-
eries of materials, but at no time had any delay in the work at the
plant, been caused on account of deliveries of materials, stating
that persons having charge of the work at the plant Where shifting
the burden of delay on him. He requested the Board to visit the plan
and investigate. Mr. Jaffe was informed, that he had been given ampl:
time to fabricate and deliver this material, and that according to
his s ontract, the same was to be delivered in 3 weeks from April 8th
and had notmade good to date, and' so far as the Board was concerned
the incident was closed.
Claims in amount of ;2943.96 were allowed.
