Office of Special Council Committee
City of Richmond, Indiana,.
- Friday May 13th, 1932.
The Special Council Committee, Board of Public Works of the City of
Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Board
Friday May 13th, 1932, at 9 o "clock A.M. Messrs, Crabbi and Schnieder
present ; Mr. Ford, absent ; Two members. of said Board being present.
The following proceedings were had, to-wit :
Minutes of the preceeding meeting were read and approved.
Permission was granted D.L.Jennings to cut the curb -at 1135 North 12th
Street, for driveway.
The petition and remonstrance filed in matter of opening an alley be-
tweebi South 6th Street -and the alley east, received by the Board and
referred to City Plan Commission, was returned by said Commission
with the following recommendations; The alley in question had been
vacated under date of May 17, 1923. Considering the fact that there
is an alley 200 feet south of the alley petitioned for, the Commis-
sion is of the opinion that the general public would not be served
by the new alley, and it was moved by Mr. Haas and seconded by Mr.
lam, Gardner that the Commission do not approve of the opening of the al-
ley in question, the motion carried by unanimous vote. The Board ac-
C= cept 'said 'report and approve the action of the Commission. -
The Bond and contract of Lee Flora, for gasoline pump at 1530 Main
Street was received and approved, this is a transfer of an -old con-
tract.
Upon recommendation of Sup 't. , of Light Plant, the Board awarded the
contract for Truck to W.E.McWhinney Co. , for a L+cyl. Ford truck at
price of $755.00. delivered, as per bid of May 2nd, 1932.

The Board in an effort to economize on street lighting, decide with
the recommendation of Sup 't . , of Light Plant, that the following lightE
be turned off for a two weeks trial as follows, viz:
6 Ornamental Lights in Reeveston Road; 4 Ornamental lights in South
22nd Street; 4 in South 21st Street; 6 in South 20th Street; i- in
South 19th Street; 4 in South 18th Street and 1 in South 17th St.
all in Reeveston Addition; also Arc Light at South 22nd & "E" Street;
and Arc light at South lath & "E" Street, making in all 29 ornamental
lights and two arc lights.
The Clerk was directed to ascertain -prices from the different Coal
Merchants for Coal for City Building; Parks, Detention Hospital and
Fire Stations.
Claims in amount of $3736. 75 were allowed.
