The Special Council Committee., Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Board, on Monday .May 2nd, 1932, at 9 o 'clock A.M. Messrs, Crab'b and Schnieder present; Mr.- Ford,- absent; two members of said Board being present, the following proceedings were had, vid : The minutes of the preceeding meeting were read and approved. The Board directed the .Street Department; Park Department to cut the weekly labor hours from 54 to 45 hours, wibeginning th ith today also the labor hours from Light Plant Department to 5 hours per week where possible. The Board authorize Sup 't. , of Light Plant, to contract for coal during the month of May with the Sovereign Pocahontas Coal Co. , of Cincinnati, Ohio, for two cars per day @ 650 per ton f. o.b. mines. The Board received bids for equipment and materials for use of the Municipal Electric Lighting & Power Plant under Items as stated viz: _ Item #1 - Face Brick; Item #2 - Glazed Face Brick ; Item #3 - Coin mon Brick; Item #4 — Windows & Frames; Item #5 - Window Glass & Putty; Item #6 — Steel for extending craneway, etc. , Item #7 - Automatic Combustion Control; Item # 8 - Combustion Instruments and Panels; Item #9 - Storage Battery Set complete with motor generator; Item #10 - One z to 1 ton Truck- allowance to be made on used Lodge Truck. Item #11 - House Switchboard. the following bids were received, to-wit : All, bids on the above named items, were referred to the Sup 't. , and Engineer of Municipal Electric _Lighting .& Power Plant , for tabulation, investigation .and recommendation, _as to the best bids received. . The Board approved the various payrolls to May, 1st, 1932. The Board then adjourned, Prest. of Board, pro-tem. Messrs, Crabb. & Schnieder . present; Mr. Ford, absent ; Two members of said Board being present. The following proceedings were had, to-wit : , • The minutes of the preceeding meeting were read and approved. A petition signed by Jennie Hartman, etal. was received,. praying that II Southwest 14-th Street, be improved by grading and cinders and a light at Southwest 14th & National Road, from National Road to John Street (now Southwest"A"St. ) the Board takes said petition under ad- visement. The Richmond Water Works Corporation, were directed to remove the meters from the flush tanks, located as follows: 2 in alley between • Peacock Road & Richmond Ave. west of 8th Street; one in alley at Peacock Road & West 16th Street also at West 17th Street, and one at �, -National Road & Easthaven Avenue. o CD • , Rev. Daniels, was granted the::.use'South llth Street, south of Parry = . Street for garden purposes during the season of 1932, with the under- standing that this ground is open for street purposes, and he• plants at his own risk. The Board received bids on furnishing one or two, new or used one & one-half ton motor driven trucks, fully equipped, with dual rear wheels, closed cab, dump body with hydraulic hoist, also;:3aseto the allowance will be given on a trade in of two old Model T Ford trucks with Anthony dump bodies, as follows to-wit : " International Harvester Co. , of America, bid; TWo Model AW-2, 4 cylinder l2 ton trucks Demonstrators fully equiped 2 O $1600.00 allowance $100.00; One ® 4825.00 allowance 450.00, or II net for one 0775.00 for two 01500.00. " E. H. Gilcrest inc. , bid; . One 4- cyl. Dodge Bros, net 0925.00 one 6 cyl. net $995.00; addition- al for bodies equipped with G-1 hoist--$30.00. " W. E. McMains Company, bid; 1 or 2, New G.M. C. T18 trucks 12 ton 0751.,00 each, additional for bodies with hydraulic hoist, 0218.00-225.00-275.09-290.00-293 and 315.00 each, allowance on #7 truck-$90.00-#8 truck-4125.00. " Brinker & Shendler, bid; Willy 's One truck net, 394-0.00-two net $1880.00; one © $928.00 two - © $1856.00; other models hoist. etc. , from 0925.00 for one to $1850.0 for two. " S. & S. Chevrolet Inc. , bid; Two new Chevrolet 6 cyl. net ® $900.00 or two 0 $1750.00. " W. E. McWhinney Company, bid; One 1932 Ford Model"BB" net $862.00; One Model "AA" Ford truck corn. $767.00 delivered ® $1679.00; allowance $180.00 or net © G1499.00. Upon recommendation of the Street Commissioner, the Board awarded . . r contract for two trucks fully equipped to the International Harvest- en- Co. , of America, at bid •price of $1500.00. net .
