SUBJECT: PLANNING COMMISSION ACTIONS -MEETING OF APRIL 9, 2013
RECOMMENDATION:
The City Council is requested to receive and file the Planning Commission actions from
their meeting of April 9, 2013.
BACKGROUND:
On April 9, 2013, the Planning Commission held their regularly scheduled meeting.
ANALYSIS:
The following is a summary of actions taken at the April 9, 2013 Planning Commission
meeting:
1. ROLL CALL:
Present: Commissioner —Cordes, Curran, O'Leary
Absent: Commissioner—Horton, Leung
2. CONSENT CALENDAR
The Planning Commission approved the minutes from their regular meeting of
March 26, 2013.
3. UNFINISHED BUSINESS - None
4. NEW BUSINESS

A. The Planning Commission denied a Zone Variance to allow a V-2"
encroachment into the required side yard setback of 6-6" for a 1,144
square foot addition to an existing single family residence. The subject
site is located at 9472 Olema Street and is designated low-density
residential by the General Plan.
The Planning Commission denied the Zone Variance on a 3-0 vote.
B. The Planning Commission recommended that the City Council approve
the proposed draft housing element and accompanying environmental
impact assessment resulting in the amendment and eventual update of
the City's General Plan.
The Planning Commission recommended that the City Council approve the
proposed draft housing element on a 2-1 vote.
C. COMMUNICATIONS - None
D. MATTERS FROM CITY OFFICIALS - None
E. UPDATE FROM THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR — Mark
Persico informed the Planning Commission that Chairman Horton would not
be present at the Planning Commission Meeting of April 23, 2013.
Therefore, an update regarding parking in commercial corridors and
adjacent residential areas would be brought forth to the Planning
Commission at the meeting of May 14, 2013, when all Commissioners are
present.
F. ADJOURNMENT
The Planning Commission meeting was adjourned at 9:18 p.m.
