The Special Council Committee, Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Boar. Friday December l8th, 1931, at 9 o 'clock •A.M. Messrs, Ford and Schnig-- der being present, Mr. Crabb, absent two members of said Board being present, the following proceedings were had, to-wit : The minutes of the ,.preceeding meeting were read and approved. The Street Commissioner was authorized to repair North 10th Street, by resurfacing from North"G" to "H" Street. The Board received bids for "Chip Stone Spreader" as follows, to-wit : C. J . VanAusdal,bid: Furnish and deliver a mechanical used stone spreader $200.00 Greenville Mfg. , Works, bid; 1 to .9 incl. •�"AA"Grits Distributers)Spreaders $300.00 each Extra parts as per bid- 436.00, f.ob. Greenville works, Ohio. , All bids taken under advisement for investigation and report of Street Commissioner and Engineer. Cr C The Board received bids for the collection & removal of ashes, trash 01= & rubbish of all kinds _from markets, dwellings, streets, alleys, lands, lanes, squares and public places of the City of Richmond, for 5 .years under cities specifications as follows, to-wit : " W. L. Magaw, bid; For year-193a---$p31, 600.00; 1933---$331, 916. 00; 1934---$32 235.00; 1935---$ 432, 557.00; 1936---$33, 082.00; Total for 5 years-4161,390.00 11 Lee Ridgeway, .bid; Year 1932---433, 995.00; 1933--- a34,33'+•95; 1934---$34, 678.30 1935---$p35,025.08; 1936---$35,375.33; Total for 5 years-$173,408. 66. The Board received a remonstrance as follows, to-wit : We, the undersigned being citizens, taxpayers, and free holders of the City of Richmond, Ind. ,d_o hereby express our opposition to any change in the present plan of collecting trash, and express our opposition to the letting of a contract for said work to. private con- tractor. We feel that the City 's equipment is ample to take care of the needs of the work and that the City can do the 'work more economi- cally than if said contract is let privately, signed by E.J.Brinker and 862 other citizens of Richmond, Indiana, toggther with the above the Board received a letter from the Retail Merchants Association, stating that the collection of ashes, trash etc. , has been very sat- isfactory in the past, and requesting that the Board give it careful consideration before making any change. The Board take the above bids and remonstrance under advisement for conference with the Common Council and advice from council, and refer all the above to the Common Council.
