The Special Council Committee, Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular, session in the office of said Board, Monday November 2nd, 1931, at 9 <<o 'clock A.M. All the members of said Board, Messrs, Ford, Crabb and Schnieder, being present, the following proceedings were had, to-wit : The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as read. Letters received by the Mayor and H. Coleman, Sup 't. , of Parks, from 111 the Harold and Hawkins families, notifying the City of a resolution passed by the above named families at a reunion held by them, in favor of the old log cabin in Glen Miller park being moved in the Park to some point on the National Road near the "Madonna of the Trails memorial, " stating that in addition to being the first scho l house in Wayne County, the cabin was built 4bri,ginally libbd as a dwe - ling by their fore-parents, Nathan & Betsy Hawkins, who were early 1 settlers in Richmond & VVayne County. The matter was referred to Sup 't. , of Parks for investigation and report as to moving the cabin . to the grounds of the Museum of the Wayne County Historical Society. The City Engineer was directed to have John Dehner inc. , contractors on South "B" Street sewer, in repairing of the curbs, to set back curbs at the Southwest, Northwest & Southeast corners of South 7th and "B" Streets, and the Northwest corner of South 8th & "B" Sts. , Building Inspector, Harry Hodgin, reported that the billboard at South 5th & "H" Streets, complained of by councilman Waltermann, that in his investigation he could see. no reason why the same shoul be moved from its present location, but would recommend a stop sign (turtle ) be place in 5th Street south of "H" Street. • Claims in amount of 27, -4F .Z4-6 were allowed; the Board approved the various city payrolls to date. 11 The Sup 't. , of Parks, was directed to secure prices as to the cost of removing the barn in Glen Park, to a more suitable location in the rear of the park. • The Board of Works then adj ourne , J10) /( tg4hki9( • Prest.of Board Attest : Clerk of Board •
