HomeMy Public PortalAbout10-09-1931 38 Office of Special Council Committee - City of Richmond, Indiana, Friday October 9th, 1951. • The Special Council Committee, Board of Public Works of the City o Richmond, Indiana, met in regular ,:session at the office of said Board Friday October 9th, 1931, at 9 o 'clock A. iv . Messrs, Ford and Schnieder being present, bir. Crab() being absent; two members of said Board being present . The following proceedings were- had: •The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as read. The Board in speaking of radio tower requested Uy the Police Dept to . oe installed on roof of the city building; stated an addition- alr,tower was" unnecessary to the operation of the radio station, add. as there was no available approuriation for this additional expense, direct that said additional tower be not erected. Sup 't . , Hess submitted a lengthy report as to stokers er.� for the LigY-t Plant , and recommended that the city purchase the Taylor Stoker at price submitted i . e. 427, 6$ . 00 Type MC. and award the contrac to the American Engineering Co. , for said stokers. • Upon recommendation of i4ir. Hess, the Board direct that the certi- fied check deposited with the Gould Pump Co. , be returned as theist pump had been eliminated. z. • The Board received bids for furnishing & installing either a hot water or steam heating plant in No. u- Fire Station, as follows to-wit : • " Charles Johanning Bid; Furnish all materials and labor & install a hot water heating system at said house according to plans---- y 1, 139 .-00 " Sears, Roebuck & Co. , bid; Hot Water heating plant installed complete 01, 192. 77 " John H. Niewoehner, bid; Furnish all materials & labor & install 4pl, o4-5.00 Alternate No. 1, , Two pipe steam system --- 1, 7 50. OQ.. " 2 - TING, pipe system direct 'radiators 1, 985.00 j,' Une pipe gravity steamsystem-- 1, 2b0.00 Based on-Hot. Water ter Heating system as per plans. and specificat- ions submitted herewith. All bids were referred to the Building Inspector and City Civ- it Engineer for investigation and report. The Special Council Committee, Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Board, Monday October 5th, 1931, at 9 o ' clock AIM. All the members of said Board, Messrs, Ford, Craob and Schnieder, being present, the following proceedings were had, to-wit : The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as read. In matter of petition of light at North 17th Street and Elm Drive in Morton Lake .district, it was reported that Elm Drive was not a public street , but is a private driveway, the petition was placed on file and no light recommended. His Honor Windsor B. Harris Mayor of Richmond, Indiana, presented a letter of thanks received by him, from the Honorable Mayor of Connersville.;., Indiana, expressing the appreciation of the citizens of that community, for the assistance given. by the Richmond Fire Department in extinguishing a blaze that threatened the destruction of their high school building early last Saturday morning, Mayor ``" I William Dentlinger 's letter reads as follows: CD We again express our appreciation for the splendid work done by your fire department at the high school, fire. While we regret we have several times found it necessary to call on you for assistance it is a source of great satisfaction to know we can depend on you during hours of peril' and we sincerely thank you and members of your fire department . Should we at any time be able to assist you, do not hesitate to call on us, and should we in any way be indebted to you please let us know.. The oard stated that the City of Richmond would expect no com- pensation from the City of Connersville for assistance given by our firemen, and were pleased to know that our firemen were willing and able to render such services.
