RESOLUTION NO. 23-100
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
OPA-LOCKA, AUTHORIZING A MONTHLY BINGO EVENT AND
SUPPORTING EXPENDITURES FOR THE REMAINDER OF
FISCAL YEAR 2022-2023, TO BE SPONSORED BY MAYOR
TAYLOR, AND CO -SPONSORED BY VICE MAYOR ERVIN AND
COMMISSIONER KELLEY; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION
OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission hosts several events within the City of Opa-
Locka ("City") to assist in increasing the quality of life for residents and visitors; and
WHEREAS, monthly Bingo events offers enjoyment for all attendees through
community interaction, varied themes and prizes; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to approve community bingo events
to be sponsored by Mayor Taylor, and co -sponsored by Vice Mayor Ervin and
Commissioner Kelley; and
WHEREAS, the Event sponsors, the City Manager and City Staff shall be
authorized to take all steps necessary steps, as authorized by applicable laws and City
policy concerning the planning of the Events, including the authorization of
expenditures to be taken from the sponsors discretionary Special Events budgets; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission has determined that it is the best interest of
the City and its residents to authorize a monthly Bingo events and supporting
expenditures for the remainder of fiscal year 2022-2023, to be sponsored by Mayor
Taylor, and co -sponsored by Vice Mayor Ervin and Commissioner Kelley.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF OPA LOCKA, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. RECITALS ADOPTED.
The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference.
SECTION 2. AUTHORIZATION
The City Commission of the City of Opa-Locka hereby authorizes a monthly Bingo
Event and supporting expenditures for the remainder of fiscal year 2022-2023, to
be sponsored by Mayor Taylor, and co -sponsored by Vice Mayor Ervin and
Commissioner Kelley.

SECTION 3. SCRIVENER'S ERRORS.
Sections of this Resolution may be renumbered or re -lettered and corrections of
typographical errors, which do not affect the intent of this Resolution may be
authorized by the Interim City Manager, following review by the City Attorney,
without need of public hearing, by filing a corrected copy of same with the City
Clerk.
SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE
This Resolution shall take effect upon the adoption and is subject to the approval
of the Governor or Governor's Designee.

A resolution of the City Commission of the City of Opa-locka authorizing a monthly Bingo event to be sponsored
by Mayor Taylor, and co -sponsored by Vice Mayor Ervin and Commissioner Kelley.
Staff Summary:
The City Commission hosts several events within the City to assist in increasing the quality of life for residents
and visitors. The tradition of hosting monthly Bingo events offers enjoyment for all attendees through its
varied themes and prizes. This event shall be sponsored by Mayor Taylor, and co -sponsored by Vice Mayor
Ervin and Commissioner Kelley. The event sponsors, City Manager and City Staff are authorized to take all
steps necessary steps for the planning of the event including the authorization of expenditures from the
sponsors' discretionary Special Events budgets.
Financial Impact - For the remainder of FY 23, the expense of conducing a monthly Bingo event will be
charged to the individual discretionary Special Events budgets of each of the Sponsors. This expenditure will
be incorporated into the FY 24 Proposed Annual Budget for City Commission adoption in September.
Proposed Action
It is recommended the City Commission of the City of Opa-locka approves a monthly Bingo Event to be
sponsored by Mayor Taylor, and co -sponsored by Vice Mayor Ervin and Commissioner Kelley.
