The Special Council Committee, Board of Public Works, of the City of
Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said. Boar
Monday May 25th, 1931, at ' 9 o 'clock A.iii. All the members of said Copal
mittee, MeLsrs, Holzapfel, Ford and Schnieder being present . The foli
lowing proceedings were had, to-wit :
The minutes of the preceeding were approved as read.
. Building Inspector Hodgin, was instructed to purchase window shades
II- for the office of Inspector of Weights & Measures and the window in
upstairs toilet room.
The Comrlittea decide to visit South "Q" Street; also South 16th St .
below "E" Street, to investigate as to complaints made, as to the
conditions of said streets.
Claims in amount of 49541. 81 were allowed.

. . ' The Special Council Committee, Board of Works of7the City of Rich-
mond, Indiana, met in regular session at. the office of said Board
Friday May 29th, 1931, at 9 o ' clock A.M. Messrs, Ford and. Schnieder
being present ; Mr. Holzapfel, being absent ; two members of said Boalia
being present, the following proceedings were had, to-wit :
The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as read.
The Board approved the contract & bond of Daniel G. Burkhardt, con-
tractor under Improvement Resolution No. 919-1931.
A communication from L.F.Ross , M.D. Sup 't . , of Richmond State Hospi-
tal, requesting that markers bearing the words"Richmond State Hospi-
tal" with an arrow,placed at N. W. 5th St . & Indiana Avenue; at the
corner of West Main & Ilasthaven Avenue; and National Road & Easthavei
Ave . , the hospital paying for the signs . The permission was granted
and clerk directed to notify Dr. Ross, to take this matter up with
the City Civil Engineer.
The Board authorize the contractor John Dehner Inc. , to proceed with
the excavation necessary to change location of the 16" water main
between Station 20/50 & 25/00, to permit the straightening of South
"3" Street sewer, contractor to be paid according to bid for trench-
ing , r 2 mains as his by
ro water as per d.

The Board received notice from the Public Service Commission of Ind-
iana, approving the extension of contract between the T .H. I . & Z.
Traction Co. , and the City, for purchase and sale of excess electric
current for the period of six months ending November 20th, 1931.
1 A committee appeared before the Board, requesting permission to use
'1 the Chataqua grounds, for camping of the IFr H" club convention-
consisting of Wayne and. Adjoining Counties, the convention to be
held in the month of August, permission was granted the club to baMp
in the chautauqua grounds in Glen Miller Park, they to see Police
Commissioners as to policing the grounds; and Mr, Hess on. procuring
lights for same, at the clubs expense.

Friday May 29th, 1931.

The City Civil Engineer, reported their was enough money available
in the appropriations to place the first coat of resurfacing on Main
Street from WA, to 5th Street, and recommended that said first coat
be laid this season, and left for the traffic to iron it out , and
the finishing coat be laid next year. The Board authorized the City 4
Civil Engineer, to have the first coat of resurfacing applied this
year to 5th Street and if possible the same be taken to -nth Street,
and the second or finishing coat ce applied next year.
The Board received bids for the improvement of Doran Bridge as fol-
lows, to-wit :
" Willson & Dixon, Richmond, Ind. ,
Furnish & Install 20 pair Steel Trues Rods & columns complete- 1360., 0
" Indiana Bridge Co. Muncie Ind.

Furnish & install 20 pair steel truss rod & columns complete, aocord-
ing to plans & specifications, except that scua.re bars will be upset
so as to furnish a thread developing the full strength of the bar,

and report at a future meeting of Board.
Upon reco hnendatiOn of Mr. D. C. Hess Sup et . , of Light Plant , the
Board make a tentative awar . of contract for boilers at Light Plant
to the D. Conne •l ly ''Boilerd-
.Co. , of Cleveland, Ohio, subject to action
of the Public Service Com.mission of Indiana, in Standby and Hate
cases now pending before said co_ii:i ission. '
Hess, was authorized to proceed with the installation of plant

for cooling the drinking water at plants building§.
Claims in amount of 43, 287.32 287.32 here allowed.
