The Special Council Committee, Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the Mayors Office on Friday- March 27th, 1931, at 9 o ' clock A. M. All the members of said Committee Messrs, Ford and Schnieder being present . The follow- ing proceedings were had, to-wit : I/ The .minutes of the preceeding meeting were read and approved. A petition for the installation of light post system in South 9th St. from South "A" to South " L" -Street, signed by J .H?Niewoehner and 67 other property owners, was received and referred to Sup 't . , of Light Plant for investigation and report. The Committee after a conference with H.A. Dill, Sup 't . , of Richmond. Water Works Corp. , decide that the water main in South 16th Street from South "E" to "H" Street, be extended in said street between the points named, and decide the main shall be an 8" main, subject how- ever, on condition that the street is improved under Improvement Reso- lution No. 918-1931; now pending. The Committee decide to co-operate with the Garden Club in every way legally possible, in their arrangements - to garden vacant lots, etc. , for the un-employed of the city. . The City Civil Engineer and Street Commissioner, recommended that the . City advertise for- 40, 000 gallons of Asphalt and 6, 000 gallons of Tar to be applied on the various streets over the city, and the city ad- vertise for asphalt and tar applied, they also recommended that the city apply a pre-mixed material to the depressions in a continuous five-clock stretch on Main Street, that is in the worst condition and then cover the entire driveway for these five clocks with a nearly uniform thickness (about " ) of resurfacing material, such as rock asphalt recommending that .five blocks be recur p&e each year, until all of :rain Street from 5th. to 20th Stree v " We Committee approved the above recommendation and instruct the Engineer and Street Com- missioner to proceed with such resurfacing, and instructed the Clerk to advertise for bids for asphalt and tar applied to . streets in the amount above stated. . - The Special Council Committee then adjourned, A i g OL-Pb(l Attest : G: Prest . , -ei6:1'-- \ Ulerk of 13oara
