HomeMy Public PortalAbout11-07-1930 Office of Special Council Committee A 5 - City of Richmond, Indiana, `t Friday November 7th, 1930. • The_Special Council Committee, acting Board of Public Works, met at its office Friday November 7th, 1930, at 9 o 'clock A. M. All the members of said Committee, Messrs, Fahlsirg, Ford and Schnieder being present. The following proceedings were had, to-wit : The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as read. I/ The Building Inspector, was directed to order the necessary materials for placing the floor in No. 4 Hose House, in proper condition for triple combination pumping engine to be used at said house; also -to employ competent carpenters to the work of bracing and laying said floor, at days work in order to have the house ready for use by the time needed. The City received notice, that the Board of Tax Commissioners of Indiana, had set Wednesday November 12th, 1930, as a date for hear- ing of the remonstrance against $165,000.00 bond issue for South"B" Street relief sewer, said -hearing to be held at A .ditors office in Wayne County, Court House, referred to the City Attorney. The Park Sup 't. , was directed to repair the grape' arbor, at the resi- dent property 618 North 10th Street,- at Star Park, belonging to the City. 0. M. Hawkins, was granted permission to cut the curb for driveway . on south side of Richmond Avenue, in Sedgwick place, Addition. Committee The Bard met to hear remonstrances if any of persons whose property is primarily assessed under Improvement Resolution No. 911-1930, for the improvement of South 20th Street, by cement sidewalk, curb & gut- ter and paving roadway, from South "A" Street south to present pave- - ment. No one remonstrating, the Committee approved a final assessment roll confirming the primary assessment roll as heretofore approved and now direct the same be transmitted to the Department of Finance. The Committee met to hear remonstrances if any of persons whose prop- erty is primarily assessed under Improvement Resolution No. 915-1930, for the installation of light :post system on both sides of South 10th . Street, from South "C" to "E" Street. No one remonstrating, the Com- mittee approved a final assessment roll confirming the original as- sessment roll heretofore approved, and now direct the same be forth- with transmitted to the Department of Finance. Committee The Bad approved a primary assessment roll under Declaratory Reso- lution No. 243-1930, for the vacation of a portion of North 2nd St. from the C.& O.R.R. tracks to north end of street; also the alleys between North 2nd & 3rd Street and the railroad to North "C" Street. and fix Friday November 21st, 1930; as a date of hearing remonstrance thereon. Sup 't. , of Light Plant was authorized to have revolving doors in- stalled at office 32 South 8th . Street; also to connect the No. 1 Fire Station with switch, to turn the stop & go signals to amber collor, while the various departments are responding to fire alarms. 452 Friday November 7th, 1930. The Committee unanimously adopted Declaratory Resolution No. 244-1930, to vacate the first alley north of South "B" Street on west side of South 2nd Street between Lots 4 & 5 and the ' alley in rear of a part of Lot 4, S.R. Wiggins, Addition. The Committee unanimously adopted Declaratory Resolution No. 245-1930, to open an alley 11 ' wide off the part of Lot 4, and apart of the S.W. corner of Lot 3, S. R. Wiggins, Addition. A petition was received for electric light at North 10th and Pool Streets, after a conference with the Sup 't . , of Light Plant it was determined their was no need for a light at this point, as it would not be a benefit to the public, by virtue of the condition of said streets being the dead end of same. The Committee approved the specifications submitted by S. W. Hodgin, City Civil Engineer, for timber required for the refloor- ing of the Doran Bridge, and directed the Clerk to advertise for bids for' furnishing said timber. The Committee, fix the regular meeting days for the transaction of the business as a Board of Public Works, as _of every Monday and Friday at 9 o 'clock A.M. Claims in amount of $7,097. 62 were allowed and ordered paid. Wrn. Morey, submitted report of the Municipal Golf Course for the season of 1930 as follows, to-wit : Receipts $3, 043.00 Expenses 2,463.41 Leaving a profit of 579. 59 • • The Special Council Committee then adjourned, O'e/fre a- 7J44 .
