The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in the Office of Board of Public Works, as the Board of Pub- lic Works of said City at 9 o 'clock A.M. October 10th, 1930, His Honor W.B.Harris Mayor of said City presiding called the meeting to order. The following members being present, Messrs, Benn, Brehm,Crabb, Fahlsing, Ford, Hodgin, Holzapfel, Schnieder, 'rvalterinann & Williams; ' Messrs, Evans and Shissler being absent ; Ten members of said Board being present, the following proceedings were had, to-wit : On motion the minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as read, The Finance Department were instructed to cancel an erronous claim filed against the School City of Richmond, Indiana, in amount of $13. 78 for grading done at Dennis School by the Street Department. Notice was received from the Public Service Commission of Indiana, - in Cause No. 9545, authorizing the City of Richmond, Indiana, to extend their contract for furnishing excess current generated by the Richmond Municipal Electric Lighting and Power Plant, to the Terre Haute, Indianapolis and Eastern Traction Co. , for another six months from November 20th, 1930, accepted and ordered filed. In matter of claim against Tom. P. Koras, for damages to city proper- ty, account of accident occuring on National Road Route rr`40, in this City on February 15th, 1930, Upon the advice of the City Attorn- ey, the Mayor was on motion authorized to sign a release of claim against said Tom P. Koras for damages sustained by said accident, upon payment to the City of the sum of $120.00. On motions the Clerk was directed to prepare an ordinance to be pres- ented at next council meeting appropriating the sum of 44,000.00 for Consulting Engineers to assist the city engineering department in securing the proper & necessary data in matter of intercepting sewers in Whitewater River and Disposal Plant. On motion the American Legion were granted permission to meet in the rooms of the number 4 Engine House. - The Sup 't . , of Light Plant was authorized to purchase ten car-load of coal from the Raymond City Coal Corp. , at the price quoted .15¢ per ton f.o.b.mines. The City Civil Engineer re.po,rted the completion of contract under Improvement Resolution No. 911-1930, for the improvement of South 20th Street, by constructing cement curb. & gutter on both sides of street, cement sidewalk 4h ft. wide on both sides where not already 1/ laid and in good condition and paving the roadway with Bituminous Re-tread Macadam on a 6" concrete base, from South "A" Street south to a point where said street has been improved. The same was accep- ted and clerk directed to prepare an assessment roll. • The Street Commissioner reported that repairs to Bridge Ave. complain- ed of has been taken care of, setting back of curb at. National and Henley Roads will be done immediately, and as soon as the property owners are ready on Southwest 16th Street said street will be taken care of. 442 Friday October 10th, 1930. On motion the Mayor was authorized to sign agreement by and be- tween the City of Richmond, Indiana, and Clem Toney, Care-taker at Detention House as follows, to-wit : Whereas, the said C. Toney, desires to install a Hot Air Furnace in the dwelling house of the city °s located on Detention House grounds at West Main & llth Streets. It is agreed by and between said C.Toney and the City, that per- mission is herewith granted to said C. Toney to purchase and in- stall said furnace in said dwelling house, free of any cost to the said City. It is further agreed that said furnace after its installation shall belong to said City of Richmond, Indiana, without cost to said city whatever. It is further agreed, that should said Clem Toney, _ move out of said dwelling of his own free will after said furnace is in- stalled, then in such event he shall not have any claim on said city for said furnace or its installation, and said furnace shall become the property of said City. Provided however, that should said Clem Toney, be removed from the position as care-taker at detention hpuse, thereby being compelled to remove from said dwelling within three (3) years from this date, then in such event, should the city desire to retain said furnace in the dwelling, then the said Clem Toney shall receive payment for said furnace at the actual value thereof at the time of his dismissal or removal from said dwel- ling. Provided further, that should the City decide they did not want said furnace left in said dwelling, then in such event the said Clem Toney shall have the right to remove the same, at his own expense and place the building in proper condition, without any cost to the City of any nattre whatsoever. Harris,Mayor. _ On motion of Mr. Ford, The Clerk was granted a vacation from October 21st, to 28th, 1930. _ Claims in amount of $1963.81 were allowed and ordered paid.
