HomeMy Public PortalAbout09-29-1930 Office of Board of Public Works • 438 City of Richmond, Indiana, M � Sepi� r9th, 191.� - ' hereas, heretofore on the 26th day of September, 1930, the Com- mon Council of the City of Richmond abolished the Board of Public Works. The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of Board of Public Works, to transact any and all business heretofore transacted by the Board of :Public Works. The following members of the common council being present, Messrs, Brehm, Crabb, Fahlsing, Ford, Hodgin, Holzapfel, Schnieder and Williams. Eight members being present, the following proceedings • . were had, to-wit : ' • In the absence of the Mayor, Mr. Fahlsing was selected prest-pro- tem_of the meeting. . . 'The Council met to hear all persons interested, or whose property is affected by the vacation of a part of North 2nd Street, from C.& O.R.R. to north end of street and the east & west alleys; also north & south alleys adjacent to and abutting said railroad prop- erty, as provided far".:.uzider Declaratory Resolution No. 24+3-1930. No one appearing, the council not being familiar with the terri- tory. The hearing on said vacations were continued until further investigation by the Committee on Public Property, Sewers,Streets Alleys, etc. , _ ' Sup 't. , of Parks Harry Coleman, appeared before the Board, request- ing permission to beautify the park surrounding the MadO.na of trails on motion of Mr. Brehm, the Sup 't. , was directed to beautify the ground surrounding said monument at an expenditure of not to exceed the sum of 050.00. It was reported that plastering had fallen from the ceiling in the care takers house at Detention Hospital, the Committee on Public Property were directed to investigate and have necessary repairs . made, without further action .of council. • The Committee on Public Utilities of council, were directed to- gether with Sup 't of Light Plant, to investigate and report on matter of cooling towers at City Light Plant. The request for cinders in Southwest 16th Street, was referred to Street Commissioner & City Engineer, to investigate and report. His Honor Mayor W.B.Harris, having arrived at the meeting, the members present expressed their desire to have him present at any and all future meetings, and reiterated their desire to work in harmony with him for the interest of the city. Payrolls to end of the month were allowed and claims in amount of $539.4 6 were allowed and ordered paid. Ill The Beerd then adjaourned,c L v Prest. pro-tern Attest: City Clerk •
