FOR CARTE~T SENIOR CITIZENS
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of the Borough of C~eret (the "Borough")
recognize that senior citizens who reside in the community are often hindered in
their efforts to maintain their homes by the cost of acquiring the requisite pe~its;
and
WHE~AS, the Mayor and Council are committed to assisting the Borough's
senior citizens whenever possible; and
WHE~AS, the recent increase in the amount of fees collected in connection with
several large projects provides the Mayor and Council with the opportunity to
provide some temporary relief to senior citizens seeing to improve and or restore
their home.
NOW, THE~FO~, BE IT O~AINED by the Mayor and Council of the
Borough C~eret that section, 109.5(c) of the code of the Borough of Ca~eret is
hereby repealed and replaced with a new subsection designatedl09.(c) which shall
read in its entirety:
109.5(c) (1) Effective upon execution of this ordinance by the Mayor after
adoption by Council and the subsequent mandatory waiting period, and
continuing through December 31, 2003; Building fees for resident Cageret
Citizens, sixty-five (65) years of age or older shall be waived in connection
with applications for pe~its to pc~o~ improvements or restoration work to
single family homes which they own and in which they reside.
(2) In order to obtain said waiver of fees the applicant must demonstrate a)
their age, b) ownership of the property for which the pe~its (s) are sought,
c) that the subject prope~y is a single family dwelling, d) that the person
requesting the waiver actually resides in the prope~y which is the subject of
the application.
(3) For the pu~ose of this section Building Fees shall be defined as Building,
Electrical, Plumbing and Fire Technical Services.
(4) All other Building and Zoning fees shall be calculated at the full rate.
BE, IT FURTHER O~AINED that this ordinance shall be adve~ised as
prescribed by law.
