City of Richmond, Indiana,
Monday July 7th, 1930.
The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met
in regular session at the office of said Board Monday July 7th,
1930, at 9-o 'clock A. M. Messrs, Edmondson and Dye being present;
Mr. Peels absent. Two members of said Board being present, _the
following proceedings were had, to-wit :
The minutes of the preceeding meeting were read and approved.
The Board approved the contract & bond of Lee Ridgeway, contractor
under Improvement Resolution No. 911-1930.
The Richmond Water Works Corp. , were directed to extend the 6'�
water main in Ratliff Street, from Stevens to Brenner Street and
install one fire hydrant on said line, providing, the Water Corp. ,
are enabled to secure the necessary aiilount of consumers. •
Mr. Edmondson, was instructed to purchase the necessary additional
lockers for patrolmen in the police station.
The Board received a recommendation from the City Plan Commission
recommending for use as a' street sign, the type manufactured by the
Indiana State Prison at Michigan City, one with a bracket for use
on. boulevard light posts and the other on two inch pipe posts. The
name plates are four & half inches in height with three inch letters.
The letters being white on a blue back-ground, all baked enamel.
Sample of bracket sign has been installed at 5th & Main Streets.
The cost. of the sign, either type is $3. 76 each f. o.b. Michigan City
which is about one half the price quoted by other manufacturers of
similar signs. The Board approved the recommendation of the Plan
Commission and adopt the above type of sign as standard for the City
of Richmond, Indiana, and take matter of purchasing of signs and in-
stallation of same under advisement until such time as number of
signs needed can be ascertained and ways and means of securing
money needed for purchasing and installing said signs.
