HomeMy Public PortalAbout05-28-1930 402 Office of Board of Public Works City of Richmond, Indiana, Wednesday May 28th, 1930. The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in special session Wednesday May 28th, 1930, at 9 o 'clock A.M. in the office of said Board. All the Members of said Board,Messrs, Edmondson, Peelle and -Dye being present, the following proceed- ings were had, to-wit : The minutes of the preceeding meeting read and approved. The Board appointed Harold G. Coleman, as Park- Superintendent to fill the unexpired term of Clement V. Carr, resigned, term of office to begin June 1st, 1930. In :natter of opening of South "G" Street, from South 23rd Street west under Declaratory Resolution No. 237-1929, and approved by • former Board of Public Works October 17th, 1929, as to the mat- ter of benefits & damages assessed against the property of H. J. Hanes, which has been appealed to the Circuit Court as to said award of damages by said H.J.Hanes. The Board after a consultation with the City Plan Commission, -as to the desireability of chang- ing the line of said street as opened, the Board decide that as the Plan Commission recommend that no change be made from the •mxYg- original plans for said opening, that same be not changed, and the matter be referred td City Attorney to defend the City in matter of appeal to court. The Board adopted Resolution o install a 9 post lighting system in South "A" Street, from South 18th tor20th _Streetl thence south in South 20th Street to South "B" Street, and directed the'Super- intendant of Light Plant to install said system, the posts to be assessed against abutting property. The Board received a petition signed by 60 residents and business houses requesting that the auto traffic out of city to the west be routed straight west on West Main Street to East Haven Avenue thence south to National Road, to eliminate the danger of crossing the traffic on Main Street, the same was referred to the Hoosier State Automobile Association, with the recommendation that traffic be routed away from West 1st Street. Chief of Police Herbert Ray, was authorized to place signs at west end of bridge, directing traffic to Indianapolis during the races straight out Main Street to Easthaven Avenue, in place of crossing traffic at West Main & 1st Streets.
