HomeMy Public PortalAbout05-09-1930 Office of Board of Public Works 392 City of Richmond, Indiana, Friday May 9th,1930. , The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Board Friday May 9th 1930, at 9 o 'clock A.M. Messrs, Edmondson and Dye -being present, Mr. Peelle being absent; two members of said Board being pres- ent. The following proceedings were had, to-wit : The minutes of the proceeding meeting Were read & approved. The Board met to hear all persons interested, or whose property is affected under Improvement Resolution No. 910-1930, for the _ - improvement of Southwestl5th Street, (formerly Charles Ave. , ) from West Main Street to National Road. A remonstrance signed by John Spahr and 22 other property owners having been filed remonstrating against said improvement, the Board referred said remonstrance to the Engineering Department for investigation and report, and continue hearing on said improvement to Friday May 16th, 1930, at 9 o 'clock A.M. Permission was granted to Wm. Schwegman, to cut the curb on S. "CH Street side of property at S.E.corner of South 7th & ""C88 St-eet 'at Tract 4339 Official Map, of City. The following resignation of C.V. Carr as Park Sup 't. , was read. To the Members of -Board of Works and Mayor of Richmond, Indiana. May 8, 1930. Gentlemen: Finding it impossible to continue as Superintend- ant of the Parks of said city, I herewith tender my resignation as such Superintendant, such resignation to take affect this date. I regret very much that I find it inadviseable to con- tinue, I hereby request that this resignation be accepted. Yours very truly, Clement V. Carr On motion the above resignation was accepted as of May 8th 1930. Matters received at last session of council and referred to the Board were presented and referred to the proper departments; the recommendation of Committee on Public Property recommending purchase of new fire truck :without the issuance of city bonds for payment therefor, was received and taken under advisement for future consideration. . A recommendation from the City Plan Commission endorsing the installation of some form of permanent traffic markers, to obviate the necessity of periodically painting parking and traf- fic lane lines on the street pavements, was received and taken under advisement. The Clerk was directed to notify Chas. Bundy of Crematory to have the garbage gathered in the east end of the city east of Glen Miller Park. Friday May 9th, 1930. The City Civil Engineer reported the completion of the first .393 section of The Southeast Storm Sewer, under Improvement Resolution No. 901-1929, under contract with Boyd & Cook, of Dayton Ohio. , the same was accepted and assessment roll ordered prepared. The City Civil Engineer reported the completion of contract ' with Vu.L.Magaw contractor, under Improvemen.'t Resolution No.899-1929, for the improvement South "0" Street from South 5th to 8th Street. The same was accepted and assessment roll ordered prepared. I/ 'I'he City Civil Engineer reported the completion .of contract under improvement Resolution No. 908-19.30,. for the improvement of the 1st alley north of Main Street, by constructing cement roadway, from North 20th to 21st Street, contractor W.L.Magaw. The same was ac- cepted and assessment roll ordered prepared. - Claims in amount of 41947.36 were allowed. e The Board then adjourned, Prest. of Board Attest : Clerk of Board
