RESOLUTION NO. 23-056
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE INTERIM CITY
MANAGER TO PREPARE AND CONDUCT A WORKSHOP
WITHIN FORTY-FIVE (45) DAYS REGARDING THE CITY'S
COLOR PALETTE FOR RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL
PROPERTIES, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Opa-Locka desires to improve and
enhance the appearance of the community; and
WHEREAS, it is the city's intent to attain a goal of unified exterior appearance for
all residential and commercial properties within the city; and
WHEREAS, the requirement of unified exterior color standards will enhance the
image of the city and provide a uniform appearance; and
WHEREAS, the city desires to ultimately update the exterior color palette for
residential and commercial properties and further desires to hold a workshop within
forty-five days; and
WHEREAS, the City of Opa-locka finds it in the best interest of the City to conduct
a workshop within forty-five (45) days regarding residential and commercial properties
and further offer residents and business owners an opportunity to provide comments
regarding the color palette.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. RECITALS ADOPTED.
The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference.
SECTION 2. AUTHORIZATION
The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka hereby directs the Interim City Manager to
update the exterior color palette for residential and commercial properties and further
hold a workshop within forty-five (45) days.

SECTION 3. SCRIVENER'S ERRORS. Sections of this Resolution may be renumbered or
re -lettered and corrections of typographical errors which do not affect the intent may be
authorized by the City Manager, following review by the City Attorney, without the need
for public hearing, by filing a corrected copy of same with the City Clerk.
SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Resolution shall take effect upon the adoption and
is subject to the approval of the Governor or Governor's Designee.

Short Title:
A resolution of the City Commission of the City of Opa-locka directing the Interim City Manager to prepare and
conduct a workshop within 60 days for the business community regarding the color palette.
Staff Summary:
The City is currently updating the exterior color palette standards for commercial buildings. It is the City's
objective to ensure that residents and business owners are involved in City decisions. There shall be a
workshop conducted within 60 days to allow staff to receive feedback from business owners regarding the
color palette prior to adoption and implementation.
Financial Impact - There is no material financial impact associated with conducting this workshop.
Proposed Action:
It is recommended the City Commission approve legislation directing the Interim City Manager to conduct a
workshop within 60 days for the business community regarding the City's color palette to be adopted for
commercial buildings.
