The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met
in regular session at the office of said Board Friday April 25th
1930, at 9 oaolock A. M. Messrs, Edmondson and Dye being present;
Mr. Peelle being absent, Two members of said Board being present
the following proceedings were had, to-wit :
The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as read.
The Board met to hear all persons interested or whose property
is affected under Improvement Resolution No. 909-1930, .for the
improvement of South 16th Street, by constructing cement sidewalks,
curb & gutter & planting trees on both sides thereof, and paving
the roadway with one of the following kinds of materials, to-wit :
Reinforced Concrete, Sheet Asphalt, Rock Asphalt or Bituminous
Re-tread Macadam, from South "E" to "H" Street. A remonstrance
signed by three resident owners having been filed, which is a
majority of the resident owners, the Board decide that in justice
to the petitioners, who desire to erect homes in this street,&bast
the benefits to the property liable to be assessed for said im-
provements are equal to the cost thereof as reported by the City
civil engineer, the clerk was instructed to prepare a bill for
an ordinance and present the same to the common council at their
next regular meeting for their consideration and action.
The Board approved the contract & bond of E.A.Mariani Co. , inc. ,
contractors for applying tar & asphalt on city . streets.
Pursuant to advertisement, the Board received bids for One 1 or
12 ton motor driven truck equipped with dump body, for street de-
partment of city as follows, to-wit :
"E.H.Gilcrest, inc. , bid;
Dodge Bros 1 ton truck - $1585.00
Allowance for Ford tractor- 175.00 & Ford truck-4125.00
" W. E. McWhinney Company, bid;
One Ford truck-$846.00 Allowance for Ford Truck- 35.00.Tractor-425.00
International Harvester Co. , bid;
One International truck-41288.00;Allowance Ford truck-$175.00
_ for Ford tractor-`'125.00, net bid 0988.00
None of the bids making great enough allowance for the used
truck and tractor to be taken in, in part payment bids were rejected.
The Clerk was directed to re-advertise for bids on said truck if
new appraisement is made of used equipment.
The Board received bids under Improvement Resolution No.908-1930
for cement roadway in 1st alley north of Main Street, from North
20th to 21st Street,as follows to-wit :
"W.L.Magaw, bid;
Cement roadway complete P0.19¢ per sq-foot
D. G. Burkhardt, bis;
Cement roadway complete $0.192 per sq-foot
Lee Ridgeway, , bid;
Cement roadway complete $0.22 per sq-foot
W.L.Magaw bid being the lowest & within the estimate, the con-
tract was so awarded.
