ARTICLE 8: VARIATIONS TO ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 674,
GRANTED BY ACTION OF THE VILLAGE OF PLAINFIELD
BOARD OF TRUSTEES.
Sec. 8-26: Variation of Maximum Sign Size Requirements
for Phillips 66 Company
WHEREAS, a public hearing was duly advertised and held
on a proposed variation to the maximum sign size requirements
of Chapter 8, Article 6, Section 6-19 of said Village of
Plainfield as hereinafter set forth, and
WHEREAS, the Zoning Board of Appeals for the Village of
Plainfield has heretofore filed the report of its acts and
doings in the premises and its recommendation that the
petition requesting the variation for the size of signs on
the real estate hereinafter described from the maximum area
requirements under said Chapter 8, Article 6, Section 6-19,
be granted, and
WHEREAS, we believe that the maximum sign size
requirements of said Chapter 8, Article 6, Section 6-19 place
an undue hardship upon the owner of said real estate, and
WHEREAS, no written objection to the granting of said
variation for said premises were filed and no one appeared in
person to object to the granting of said variation, and
WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the President and Board of
Trustees of the Village of Plainfield that the petition
requesting a variation from the maximum sign size
requirements of said Chapter $, Article 6, Section 6-19 for
the real estate hereinafter described should be granted.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD
OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF PLAINFIELD, AS FOLLOWS:
Sec. 8-26-1: Territo Described. That the following tract
of land to-wit:
Lot 1 and 2 in Unit 1 of Plainfield Acres, a
Subdivision of the South 2301 Feet of the West
half of the Southwest quarter of Section 15,
Township 36 North, Range, 9 East of the Third
Principal Meridian, according to the Plat
thereof recorded July 21, 1951 as Document
694112, in Will County, Illinois.
Commonly known as 451 South Division Street
Plainfield, Illinois

which said tract of land is now subject to the
maximum sign size requirements as established in
Section 6-19 as aforesaid be and the same is hereby
exempt from the requirement that no sign larger
than 20 square feet shall be erected, and the same
is hereby granted a variation to said maximum sign
area requirement and is hereby permitted to erect
signs as follows: One freestanding sign 23 feet in
height and 91 square feet in area, and two 13.445
square feet canopy mounted logo signs, and wall
signage of individual letters total 9.75 square
feet for the Food Plaza and 7.75 square feet for
the car wash subject to stipulations as follows:
1. Installation of a 6 foot screening fence along
the East property line.
2. Construction of the site in accordance with
landscaping plans as amended to provide one
access on Renwick Road.
Sec. 8-26-2: If Part Invalid. The invalidity of any part
or section hereof shall not affect the
validity of the remainder hereof.
Sec. 8-26-3: This Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage and approval
as provided by law.
This Ordinance shall be numbered as ordinance
No. 1203 .
