HomeMy Public PortalAbout10-17-1929 Office of Board of Public Works 323` City of Richmond, Indiana,- - - Thursday October -_1-7th, 1929 The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in . regular session at the office -of said Board at 9 o '-clock -A. M. Thursday October 17th, 1929. All the members of said Board being present, Messrs, McFall and Henley, the following proceedings were had, to-wit : - . - I/ Permission was -granted John Shurley, to cut the curb for -driveway at No. 11 & 13 South 9th Street . The -Board met to hear remonstrances and take final action on Declara- tory Resolution No. 23 7-1929, for the Opening and extension , of South "G" Street, from South 16th to 23rd Street, (See resolution/ A reinon- strance filed by Gath P. Freeman, attorney for Harry J. Hanes remon- strating against the amount of damages awarded and benefits assessed claiming as- the owner of Tract No. 552 Official Map, City of Richmond that his real estate will be damaged in the amount of q2, 000.00 whereas, he has been awarded nothing for taking of such land. The Boar( - after viewing -said remonstrance, being fully advised in the premisses overrule said remonstrance, and confirm a final assessment roll of benefits assessed and damages awarded, and now direct the same be forts with Utransimitted to the Department of Finance and declare said South " G" Streett -opened and extended as provided for in said resolution. The -Board met to hear remonstrances and take final action under Declare tory Resolution No. 23 -1929,- for the Opening and extension of South 22nd Street, from South " E" Street to the proposed opening of South"G" Street, (See resolution ) A remonstrance having been -filed by Gath P. Freeman,-attorney for Harry 0. Hanes, owner of Tract -No. 551 & 552 Official Map, Richmond, claiming that his real estate will be damaged in the amount of &2, 000.00, whereas, he has been awarded nothing for taking of such land for -said opening. The -Board after viewing said remonstrance, overrule the same, and confirm a final assessment roll Of benefits assessed and damages awarded, and n0w direct the same be forthwith transmitted to the Department ofFinance and decl are 8 said South 22nd -Street opened and extended as provided in said resolution. The .Board met to hear remonstrances and take final action under Declare tory Resolution No. 239-1929,- to acquire right of way for the con- struction and maintenance of sewers in Southeast part of City as provided in said resolution (see resolution) No one appearing or re monstra-ing against the amount of benefits assessed and damages awarde( - The Board approved a final assessment roll of benefits & damages as heretofore approved and now direct the same be forthwith transmitted to the Department .of Finance. - - •i - • . - - - A remonstrance signed by A. L. Geers et-al. remonstrating against the smoke arising from the stackes of The Swayne, Robinson & Co. , plant and the City Light Plant was received, and taken under advisement for investigation. The City Civil Engineer reported the completion of contract of W.L.ivi.agaw contractor, for the improvement of streets in Ravinia Park First- Addition, by grading and paving said streets and public places with bituminous retread on 6" concrete Base, and by con- • structing cement sidewalks, curb & gutters, sewers and erection - of a system of street lights and light posts and of making private • connections with sewers, water & gas and other like conveniences and bring the same inside the curb lines at each lot where the same has not already been done (See resolution ) . The Board- accepts the same and directed assessment roll be prepared, under the law • overning: the improvement of platted additions.
