The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in
regular session at the office of said Board, Thursday October 3rd
1929i at 9 o 'clock A.M. All the members of said Board, Messrs,
McFail and Henley being present . The following proceedings were
had, to-wit :
The Board met to hear remonstrances if any, on account of the
benefits assessed and damages awarded, under Declaratory Resolu-
tion No, 235-1929, for the opening and widening of South 16th
Street to a width of77 feet from the northwest corner of Tract
556 Official Map to the north _line of South "J" Street, (See
Resolution for description) the following remonstrance was filed:
To the Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond; •
As the owners of Tract 566, Official Map of City of Richmon4
Indiana, and Lot #31, Fihe Addition, fronting approximately 900
feet more or less on the west side of that part of South 16th- St .
between H and J streets, which it is proposed to widen and extend,
we claim- we will be damages in the sum of 0200.00 by said proposed
work; when we have only been awarded 49.1(% an equal sum, for both
benefits and damages. This protest is based on the fact that a
tract 52 feet wide is being appropriated from our land on the west
side of 16th street, while on the east side of 16th street you are
appropriating only 25 feet .

After carefully considering the remonstrance, the Board on motion
overrules the same, and approved a final assessment roll, confirming
the primary assessment roll of benefits & award of damages hereto- '
fore approved, and now direct the Same be forthwith transmitted to
the Department of Finance, and declare said South 16th Street opened
and widened to a width of 77 feet to South "J" Street as described
in said resolution.
The following petition of Belden Manufacturing Company was received;
The undersigned, Belden Manufacturing Company, tenant of real
estate of Belden Realty Company and of Richmond Manufacturers ' and
Merchants ' Realty Company, as lies to the north of Brenner Street
. (north Corporation line from Williamsburg Turnpike to G.R.& I .Railway)
respectfully appears before your Board, and requests the right,
privilege and authority to enter upon said Brenner Street, and
especially upon that certain part thereof defined in deed of Rich-
mond LVLfgs.& merchants ' Realty Company to City of Richmond, dated
August o, 1927, and recorded in peed Record 171 at page 279 of
Records in office of County Recorder of Wayne County, Indiana, and
thereon to place, construct, provide and build a concrete highway
improvement of the following character:
With the south line thereof being eight (v) feet north of and par-
allel to present north Corporation line of City, then cement pave-
ment to the north of such line seventeen (17) feet six (6) inches
in width, then cement gutter two (2) feet in width, cement curb six
(6) inches in width, cement sidewalk seven (7) feet in width, and
all at expense and cost of this petitioner upon suitable plans and
specifications therefor. Such part of said improvement as extends.
from east line cf Hunt Street to west line of Harris Street, to be
constructed in Fall of year 1929, and remainder at option and
necessity of petitioner.

The Board accepted said petition, that the said Brenner Street be.
improved under the supervision of the City Civil Engineer.
The Postal Telegraph-Cable Company were granted permission to renew
their pole lines over the City, and_ instructed to get in touch with
Fire Chief, Sup 't . , of Light Plant and City Engineer.
The Bond of Babcock Wilcox Co. , in sum of 03, 934.00, for the faith-
ful performance of their contract with the City for furnishing a
new Sterling Boiler and equipment, as of date of July 23, 1929 .
was received and placed on file. (see contract)
The Boand of Westinghouse Electric & Mfg. , Company, was filed, in
sum of $1 -, 524.00, for faithful performance of their contract as
of date of August 20th, 1929, for furnishing and installing eight
retort new model under feed stoker equipped with link grate etc. ,
(see contract)
The Board approved the various payrolls to September 30th, 1929.
Claims in amount of $7311. 25 were allowed.
The Board then adjourned,
