My name is Chris Curran, and I am a faculty member at the University of Florida’ College of Education. Foremost, let me
say that I hope you are doing well and staying healthy in the midst of all that is going on! I am currently working on a
project that involves understanding how the presence of law enforcement has changed in FL public K-12 schools over
the last several years. As part of this project, I am working to pull together publicly available information on which
schools in each school district in the state had sworn law enforcement (school police or school resource officers) present
for the last several years.
In particular, I am requesting the names of schools that your agency provided sworn law enforcement to (had officers
stationed/present at the school as their primary location) for the 2014-15 through 2018-19 school years. If you are able
to provide a listing of public K-12 schools by year for the ‘14-‘15 through ‘18-‘19 school years that had officers present
(or any subset of those years for which you have public records), I would be most appreciative. If your agency has not
provided sworn law enforcement to schools during that period, that would be helpful information as well.
I realize you undoubtedly are juggling the many demands that these unique times have presented, so I appreciate your
time on this request and thank you in advance for your service to our state and any information you can provide to assist
with this project. If there is someone else within your agency that I should direct this request to, please let me know.
