The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session at the office of said Board Thursday July 25th, 1929 at 9 o 'clock A.11. All the members of said Board being present, Messrs Reid, McFall and Henley, the following proceedings were had, to-wit Whereas, L arl Wright , has removed the gasoline curb pump from 31 South 5th Street, the Clerk was instructed to notify Jenkins Bros. , there was no further need of maintain4ng a bond covering same. The Board awarded contract to Richmond City Band, for 4 Sunday Con- certs to be played at Glen Miller Park, 24 musicians, concerts to be of 2 hours duration for the sum of 4-00.00. The Board met to hear remonstrances if any, of persons whose proper- ty is assessed under Improvement Resolution No. 090-1929j for improve rent of alley between South llth & 12th Street, by constructing ce- • rent roadway, from South IIH" to III" Street. No one remonstrating the Board approved a final assessment roll confirming the primary assess- ment roil as heretofore approved and now direct the same be forth- with transmitted to the Department of Finance. - The Board met to hear all persons whose property is primarily assess- ed under Improvement Resolution No.892-1929, for the improvement of Northwest 6th Street, by constructing cement sidewalks, curb & gutter on both sides of street, from Pearl Street to Peacock Road. No one remonstrating. The Board approved a final assessment roll confirming the original assessment roll as heretofore approved, and now direct the same be forthwith transmittted to the Department of Finance. The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No. 904-1929 the it II Street, � 1 for improvement of South I eet, by constructing 5 cementsidewalks on both sides of said street, from South 5th to 6th Street. The Board unanimously adopted Declaratory Resolution No. 236-1929 for the vacation of North" 0" Street from North 2nd to 3rd Street and the north portion of North 2nd Street, reserving the right to maintain and enter sewers in said streets, (See resolution) The Board unanimously adopted Declaratory Resolution No. 237-1929 to open and extend South "G" Street, from South 16th Street to 23rd Street to be 601 wide, (See resolution) . The Board unanimously adopted Declaratory Resolution No. 238-1929 to open and extend South 22nd Street 701 wide, from South "E" Street to the proposed opening of South "G" Strset. (See resolution) . The- Board unanimously adopted Declaratory Resolution No. 239-1929 to acq:_Lire Right of Way for the construction and maintenance of • sewers beginning at South 23rd Street and south line of Lot 290, Reeveston Addition; thence' west to a line between South 22nd & 23rd Streets, thence south to South "E" Street-, (See resolution. ) Whereas, an emergency exists Suptt . , of Light Plant was authorized to receive bids for necessary materials required in raising roof etc. , at Light Plant boiler rooms. Thursday July 25th, 1929 29 The Board approved contract awarded to Wood Electric Shop for supply of Mazda Lamps used by City for coming year. Mr. D. 0. Hess Sup °t . , of Light Plant, reported. that after giving due consideration to the three proposals received on boiler equipment, I wish to recommend the purchase of the Babcock-Wilcox equipment as per their bid, stating that for the difference in price I feel we are justified in placing this order with Babcock • - Wilcox Company; Because we have been using their boiler equipment for a number of years and found same very satisfactory; also the service rendered by them is of great assistance to us. Upon the above recommendation the Board award the contract for Boiler & equipment to the Babcock-Wilcox Company, for the sum of 453, 934.00; If the distance is as specified under Item 2B of our specifications, We agree to pay to the contractor an additional sun_ of 4778.00 as follows, 50% cash upon delivery of bill of lading 40% cash 30 days from date of bill of lading; 107° cash 60 days from date of bill of lading, City agreeing to pay_ for erection engineers labor as set forth in specifications. The contractor agrees to furnish Sterling Water Tube Boiler complete with soot blowers, superheater,water walls and air heater, for the above price f. o.b. Richmond, Indiana. delivery promised in 7 weeks. • The_ e being no available appro riot ion and no work for the ser- vices of Mr. !vicCa.ustland special engineer, the City Engineer was directed to lay Mr. lacCaustlana off for at least a month without pay, and if he is still in the city and cares to take employment with the city, at the end of -that period, there would probably be a few weeks employment for him on the sewer projects now penning before council. • • The Board then adjourned, Prest . of Board Attest : Clerk of Board
