. The Board of Public Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in
_regular session at the office of said Board Thursday May 23rd, 1929
at 9 o 'clock A.M. All the members of said _Board Messrs, Reid,McFail
and Henley being present . The following proceedings were had,to-wit :
The Board met to hear all persons interested or whose property is
affected under Improvement Resolution No. 896-1929, for the improve-
ment of Sheridan Street, by 'constructing cement driveway curbs on
both sides of street, from Railroad Bridge to State Street. After
hearing all persons interested who appeared, all of the property
owners appearing stating they would gladly have the street widened
by setting back the curb to the •present sidewalk and paving the •
roadway between the present cement street to the gutter, but where
• not in favor of driveway curbs, the Board decide to investigate and
make an effort to have the poles on the street set back on the prop- ,
erty line, and on motion rescind said resoultion, with the promise
that in the event they are able to have the poles set back, they
. would start new proceedings specifying straight curbs and paving
roadway as above proposed. .
. The Board received communication from L.F.Ross,M.D. East Haven State
Hospital, fixing the price of the 16 acres of ground south of rail-
- road •owned by the State of I-ndiana, which it has been proposed to
. sell to the City of Richmond for Park purposes, the. Board direct the
• Clerk to notify Dr.Ross, the city was in no position to purchase said
ground at this time, as it would probably have to be purchase by a
bond issue against the city., . _
The Board issue contractors certificates # 76 & 77, under Improvement
Resolution No. 885-1929, in amounts of $665. 58 & 42464.4+2 respect-
• ively. •
The Board held a conference with Byron Robbins, Attorney for George
- Ferling, in matter of appeal taken to Circuit Court in matter of
•
damages to the Ferling property at South 6th & HA" Streets, under
Declaratory Resolution No. 221-1928. Mr. Robbins stating that he.
would recoaimend• on a compromise in the sum of 42500.00 damages,
the Board after reviewing and discussing the matter, decide that
the award of $1800.00 as given Mr.. Ferling, stand as they where of
the honest opinion that - the damages awarded were sufficient .
Claims in amount of 47832. 58 were allowed. .
