RE: Meeting Packet Deliveries
It has come to my attention that the packets for this morning's meeting did not get delivered to some of
your homes until after 9:30 p.m. last night. This clearly is an unacceptable situation and I apologize for
any inconvenience this may have caused you. To ensure this does not happen again, I have instituted
the following policies which are effective immediately:
The Police Department (or other delivery personnel) will attempt to deliver all packets within two
hours of their receipt from the Town Clerk.
2. If delivery is attempted but no one is home, the officer shall leave a note affixed to the front door
explaining that a delivery was attempted and that the Delray Beach Dispatcher should be
contacted once you return home to have the police return with your packet.
3. To reconfirm previous policies, packets will be delivered in accordance with the following
schedule:
Regular Meetings and Public Hearings - Agenda and most materials at least five days prior to
the meeting with any required supplemental materials at least two days prior.
Special Meetings - At least three days or as established at the time the meeting is set. In all
cases, a twenty-four hour minimum will be attempted. If delivery cannot be made in twenty-four
hours, all Commissioners will be called and notified of when the packets can be expected.
4. For Commissioners with business offices, all deliveries before 5:00 p.m. will be made at the office.
Deliveries after 5:00 p.m. will be made at the Commissioner's home.
Hopefully, the above policies will preclude the extraordinarily late delivery of packets in the future. If you
have any other suggestions or special delivery needs, please do not hesitate to let Rita or me know.
Again, my apologies for any problems the late delivery may have caused.
